The 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 has rocked the performance car market since its official debut back in October 2021, proving a stunning combination of aggressive looks, a high-revving engine, exceptional performance, and a comparatively-affordable price point. As such, many C8 Z06 model’s have been pitted up against more expensive, exotic sports and supercars to test the American performance machine. Today, we have a 2023 Corvette Z06 racing a McLaren Artura.
First, here’s a breakdown on how these two performance vehicles matchup. The Artura is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 gasoline engine coupled with an electric motor on the front axle, producing a total of 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the C8 Z06 is powered by the 5.5L LT6 V8 and develops 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both vehicles are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
An interesting piece worth noting is that the Artura is AWD, while the Z06 is exclusively RWD. In addition, it wasn’t mentioned if either vehicle was equipped with aftermarket parts.
Off the hit, the 2023 Corvette Z06 jumps ahead of the Artura, and carries this lead until roughly halfway through the quarter-mile drag race. At that point, the extra 60 pound-feet of torque, but mostly the 600-pound advantage, helps propel the McLaren Artura ahead. By the finish line, the Artura finishes first, albeit only by roughly a car length. However, when it comes to engine note, the Z06 is the clear winner here.
It’s worth noting that the Artura has a starting MSRP just under $240,000, while the 2023 C8 Z06 boasts a starting price of $109,295.
As a reminder, the Corvette Z06 rides on the GM Y2 platform, the same vehicle platform that underpins all C8 Corvettes. Meanwhile, production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

.4 seconds and 10mph is not one car. Common belief is that every .1 is 1 car, so that’s 4 car lengths and rapidly expanding.
It’s ok the Z06 isn’t the fastest car in the world. It’s faster than all but a few. The ZR1 will be a much better drag racer.
Mr. Mike is the authority, didn’t you all know?
He’s got no data, just his opinion.
A 600lb lighter car with forced induction is quicker… who knew lol.
‘It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning is winning.”
This is possibly the only correct thing from the F&F movie, but certainly applies here. Hard to “put the world on notice” when you’re behind some tenths…recognizing that the results might be reversed on a track.
That all said, I just saw (and heard) my first Z06 on the road this morning…it looked and sounded fantastic.
I would like to see a race between Artura and the E-Ray. Then a race between the Z06 and E-Ray.
Why would they use a convertible that weighs 102 pounds more than a coupe to race against a much lighter car? This was a waste of time.
The guy involved with the McLaren is a tried and true drag racer and believe me if any tricks to the McLaren were to be done he would have made sure they were done. A foolish race with the McLaren that having equal horse power,
, boosted horsepower versus NA, Much more torque and 600 lbs lighter . A coupe version of the Z06 would have been 100 lbs lighter than the convertible etc etc. Poor matchup .
So, in other words the McLaren is putting down the numbers Chevy said the Z06 can do be actually can’t.
The best the Corvette can do in better temps is 10.6, and to be beaten by a car 600 lbs lighter and with boosted horsepower and more torque by only .4 says a lot for the Corvette .
Well maybe when I’m spending $121,385 on a car I kind of expect it to do what Chevy advertises. Look at the lines to order the Eray. Maybe somebody on here can tell me what the proper atmospheric conditions should be to get the advertised numbers.
There are a few very connected , reliable people with new Z06 coupes that have matched and exceded the 10.6 1/4 mile times chevrolet has posted for this car and is well documented. Go on the net and watch. If I remember these cars ran in 60-70 degrees and in a low altitude area.
Also remember not everyone will be able to post those times due to correct set up for the day and conditions and driver ability . If ya know what your doing, you will do better than someone that doesnt have the skill or know how.
10.92 is not good. A 2LT, C8, Stingray, with drag radial, got 10.95 and they have 180 hp. diff.
10.92 in 2000 DA in a heavier convertible versus a coupe is not bad. The C8 stingray coupe that did a10.95 with a drag radial was in much lower DA and had a few boltons. A stingray coupe versus a Z06 convertible weight wise close to a 250lb difference.
The Artura is RWD, not AWD.
Not an even match.
The CORVETTE is magnificent, is light years ahead aesthetically and safety wise. Oh how is McLaren’s racing history in the past 25 years stack up against CORVETTE in class? Yeah not so good. What are all the EURO lovers going to whine about when the ZR1 and ZORA is revealed?
