Buyers can no longer choose the Northsky Blue Metallic (color code GA0) exterior paint color on the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab and Regular Cab, GM Authority has learned. Additionally, Northsky Blue Metallic will be completely built out on the truck after the week of March 13th, 2023 for the Crew Cab configuration, and after the week of March 27th, 2023 for the Regular Cab.
Northsky Blue Metallic has been available throughout the lifespan of the Silverado‘s current generation, introduced with the launch of the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500.
All trim levels of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 previously offered Northsky Blue Metallic as a paint option at no extra charge. The tint could be combined with all of the pickup truck’s interior colorways:
- Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere
- Jet Black
- Jet Black/Graystone
- Jet Black/Nightshift Blue
- Jet Black/Umber
Another paint color, Sand Dune Metallic, has been no longer available to order since December 2022. The hue was another no-charge color. Following GM’s removal of Northsky Blue Metallic and Sand Dune Metallic from the palette, there are nine remaining color options for the 2023 Silverado:
- Black
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Red Hot
- Summit White
- Dark Ash Metallic
- Glacier Blue Metallic
- Harvest Bronze Metallic (new for 2023)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (new for 2023)
Turning to other features, parts constraints caused GM to start building Silverado 1500 trucks without the wireless smartphone charging feature (RPO Code K4C). No retrofit is currently available for affected vehicles, which are tagged with the RPO Code 00C on the window sticker.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 also received several new options at the end of 2022, however. The truck got a new wheel option for 22-inch Black wheels with selective machining (RPO Code SRL) in November 2022. The wheels are a dealer-installed or LPO option and are priced at $3,295 on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country trim levels.
The 2023 Silverado 1500 also saw the Performance Front Brake Kit (RPO code 5JL) return for the first time since its last appearance on the truck in 2019. GM also opened orders for the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison, a rugged all-terrain trim with numerous off-road upgrades. The highly anticipated vehicle’s price starts at $78,490, including the destination freight charge.
It’s unclear at this point if Northsky Blue Metallic will return for the 2024 model year. The updated 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 is slated for start of regular production (SORP) on July 17th, 2023. No major changes are expected for the new model year.
As a reminder, the Silverado 1500 powerplant lineup includes the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, developing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
The Silverado ZR2 Bison sports the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine as standard, generating 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the Chevy Silverado 1500 rides on the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Am I the only one who thinks the Silverado this generation looks ugly? And I’m the one who always preferred gm’s styling over other automakers, but lately they are missing the mark. Example is when they keep moving the bow tie up On the grill and In the corner.
There’s roughly a half a million customer’s who disagreed with you in 2022.
Lol written like a true bot. I can tell they don’t want gm looking bad on this site.
Can’t see the bow tie from where I sit. Lol
Low volume color. No great loss. Not the best shade of blue GM has ever offered.
I disagree. GM is ditching one of their best colors with this line of trucks. They obviously didn’t poll their customers.
Chevrolet just wants to make one truck, 4 door 4 cylinder in white!
That, to my eye, is a terrific color that shows subtle changes in differing shades of light. And I think it goes well with GM’s desire for all-black rims. So let me guess, they’ve got 3 shades of a new gray waiting in the wings?
I have Northsky Blue on my current 2019 Truck. Like most colors, looks best IMO when clean and in sunlight. Otherwise, it was a bit too dark for my preferences.
I wanted something a bit brighter and looked hard at Red Tintcoat and Glacier Blue Metallic on my 2023 order. Went with Glacier Blue after seeing it in person day and night. My 2023 is supposed to be delivered to the dealer this (2/27/23) after ordering back in October.
Been a long wait but I know others have waited much longer.
Enjoy your purchase, I also saw them side by side and went with the Northsky Blue on my 2023. You have to buy what you like.
Another stupid decision by GM. GM needs new leadership.
I’m puzzled on the number of colors GM is stopping before the end of the production year on their trucks as well as cars and suvs. I can only remember a few in the past due to tint supply issues. Any ideas ?
Every year they drop a few colors and add a few new ones. Of the new colors, about half will look just like a color from the previous year, but with a new name.
Bring back silver!!! Classy colour.
But what’s the point of any of these colours. Since February of 2022 I’ve been trying to get a double cab rst 3.0. A year!!! Come on chevy!!!
On the contrary, I’ve received lots of favorable comments about the North Sky Blue on my 2019 WT. People love it; and I do too. GM is fast growing out of touch with what the “customers” want, vice what they want.
Just like EV trucks, most people I know that use trucks (as trucks), are NOT interested in EVs at all.
I guess this will make give more value to trucks with this color?
