2023 Cadillac Lyriq Orders Being Shifted To 2024 Model Year

Following production and shipping delays, some 2023 Cadillac Lyriq orders will be shifted over to the 2024 model year, Cadillac global vice-president Rory Harvey said during a recent media briefing. Harvey did not specify how many 2023 Lyriq orders will be switched over to 2024 Cadillac Lyriq orders when he made the announcement, and GM has not elaborated since.

A side view of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq.

GM has also not indicated what exact incentive customers will receive for changing their order from the 2023 model to the 2024 model. “As we transition to model year 2024, Lyriq customers with an unfulfilled 2023 order were able to take advantage of a private offer to apply toward their 2024 Lyriq purchase or lease,” a Cadillac spokesperson said to GM Authority. Meanwhile, on social media, customers who placed orders for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq have made the unconfirmed claim they were offered a $5,000 incentive to make the model-year switch.

Production and shipment totals for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq have been fairly low to date, though both have ramped up in recent months. GM produced 8,195 units of the Cadillac Lyriq during the 2022 calendar year but only shipped 122 of those, all Debut Edition units, including 20 as part of the Cadillac Lyriq Ambassador program.

GM asserts it chose to conduct a slow roll-out to give itself time to address quality issues. It delayed shipments in order to fix the crossover’s vehicle software management update and a cracking liftgate panel. It also issued a recall for display screen issues. The fact significant 2023 Cadillac Lyriq production didn’t begin until September 2022 introduced another delay beyond the quality hold.

The General recently lifted the quality hold on the Cadillac Lyriq and deliveries are ramping up. GM says approximately 1,000 2023 Cadillac Lyriq units shipped over the past 30 days. Production ran at above 2,000 units per month in both November and December 2022.

As of mid-February 2023, GM is still currently building Debut Edition units of the 2023 Lyriq. Start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is only a month away, with sources informing GM Authority it is scheduled for March 20th, 2023. The final day of production for the 2023 Lyriq is scheduled for March 17th, 2023. Production of the new model year will continue to take place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

The configurator for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is currently live. GM Authority exclusively uncovered pricing for the 2024 model year in late January 2023, and later obtained information on full pricing details, including options and packages.

As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq starts $58,590 with the release off the new-for-2024 Tech base trim level. The 2024 Luxury trim starts at $62,690, while the Sport trim starts at $63,190. The most-expensive 2024 Cadillac Lyriq model on offer is the Sport 3 trim with all-wheel drive, starting at $74,590 MSRP.

This is almost unbelievable were it not for the obvious Managerial Incompetence shown at GM…

All the almost countless articles about the ‘2023 Cadillac LUXURY Trim’ with 4 colors being available and the AWD 500 HP system ‘Available for the 2023 Cadillac LUXURY Trim later in the Model Year’ – apparently are TOTALLY FICTION…

If they are STILL trying to complete the DEBUT TRIM production in Mid FEBRUARY, but 2023 model year production will end MID MARCH, this in effect means that there will be NO 2023 LUXURY TRIMS built AT ALL !!!!!!

As little KIDS, Cadillac Management seems to be always changing their collective minds, and continually moving the goal posts and gives one the eerie feeling no one has given more than a few minutes thought to a production, or even a marketing game plan.

I’ll have to contact my dealer and see if this supposed $5,000 credit may be applied for a 2024… MY BLUE LYRIQ 2023 LUXURY trim, (which at last blush was going to be forced to be BLACK), along with ALL OTHER 2023 LUXURY TRIMS, apparently is being granted ONE FULL WEEK at best for the START and END of production. However, Comparison with the 2024 ‘Build and Price’ Brochure on the website indicates that an equivalent 2024 to the 2023 model I THOUGHT was being manufactured for me would be about $5,300 more.

In this case, a $5,000 discount on the price of the 2024 would be fair enough, at least for me, since If offered that deal – I’ll buy a more stripped lower cost trim, such as the TECH.

I’ll have to contact my DEALER AGAIN to see what is happening.

Doesn’t seem to me to make sense to make 1 or possibly 2 weeks of an ENTIRE MODEL TRIM YEAR’s production run, and then change things all around again…..

It would make sense that, if they are planning to end production TRULY on March 17th, 2023, that they would just at that point start making 2024’s. But ‘SENSE’ seems to be lacking at several levels at Cadillac lately.

Enough warning that Lyric will not be on our shopping list as we replace our Tesla which has been a good but not great car. It was our second Tesla and much improved over our first. Anxious to check out available luxury EVs.

The slow rollout is to ensure quality. The ford f150 lighting already has a recall. Gm wants to avoid this. I think it’s smart. The floodgates will open on production.nothing is vaporware. I rode in the lyriq at the Chicago auto show and it’s a beautiful vehicle.

If they roll it out any slower, everyone will just move on to something else.

GM led by Mary Barra gets all the press announcing new models and their Ultiam battery revolution. Even saying they will beat Tesla shipping rates by 2025. We own a Mach E GT Perf. Great on line buying experience, not very good final dealer one though. We were looking to consider the AWD trim but thr range wasn’t published until last week at 307 miles vs the RWD at 310. Could these figures be true? 350 hp vs 550hp. 1 motor vs 2. We are no longer interested in the Lyric mainly for GM giving out incorrect miles for the AWD model which will be lowered to a much more realitic 260 miles similar to our Mach E GTPE. 480hp 634 torque. Ford qas up front with estimate miles at 250 increased to 260 per final EPA testing. I will stick to Ford on their next ev a Explorer.

I’m a believer in under promise and over deliver. Seems GM prefers over promise and under deliver. Mary talks the talk, but certainly we haven’t seen actual results so far. I have a Fisker on order, which, since I’m happy with my ATS, I might have cancelled had Cadillacs’ promises had value.
    Great way to loose customers.

Total managerial incompetence. I’m still waiting for my debut edition to ship. Was told the thing was built in November. I was given the VIN # which comes back as a 23 Cadillac Lyriq and I’m still waiting. Apparently the thing has been sitting in Tennessee. Why that would be I have no idea. The dealer doesn’t know either and they can’t get an ETA. My expectations were pretty high a 1 1/2 yr ago but have slowly deflated over that time period with how bad those car release has been. Might be one of the worst debuts ever. I hope the car is worth it.

I ordered a Lyriq AWD on May 18. When I recently checked the status of my order, GM shows that it was submitted by the dealer but not yet accepted for production, status code 1100. Part of the issue is that the cars are delivered according to the dealers’ allocation. Earlier this month, my order was 60th on the dealer allocation list.

    Can’t help but wonder….

All those people that reserved a Hummer years ago; what model year did they think they were getting?

90,000 reservations and less than 1,000 sold so far…

It’s really hard to understand “what the heck is GM doing” releasing all these models, and making so few of them.

Call me old fashioned Ed753, but if I order a ‘23 model year that’s what I expected to get. Yes, I understand and read the fine print about no guarantee on getting the car, but if you are going to hype up a car and then underperform in getting it out to folks you deserve all the backlash that is coming your way. What happens next when some of those ‘24 models get delayed even further? You are in essence pushing folks out the showroom and any salesperson will tell once that potential buyer leaves the odds of him coming back are not good. At best you are frustrating your buyers which is never a good thing and at worst your buyers will explore other options as limited as that might be.

This Saturday I was able to inspect my Lyriq that arrived to a one of Maryland’s dealers. Build quiality is good. I didn’t notice any issues with panel gaps or any paint issues, but I found several issues with software. 1) Cameras didn’t work at all. 2) Main display shows a service error. 3) Side mirror stick didn’t work. 4) Google assistant didn’t work. It is simply doesn’t detect any words you pronounce. Looks like microphone doesn’t work. 5) Android auto and Apple car play allow to connect your phone, but when somebody calls you, car speakers don’t output sound. Also microphone doesn’t work and a person that calls you hears nothing. Dealer’s technitian promises to solve all problems on Monday and call me back, but nobody called.

Cringing……I’m amazed they let you inspect it with all the issues you mentioned. I’m more amazed they delivered it to the dealer under those conditions. My fear is the car shipped with the latest software version. Good luck and let us know if indeed those issues are resolved.

Who pointed those issues out to you? Dealer or did you noticed them?

I’ve made an appointment to check a car before signing paperwork. They parked a car in front of the dealership and gave me the key. I had enough time to check everything myself. Then I asked a technitian to join me and showed him all problems I found. He was trying to poke around in the menu, but wasn’t able to fix anything and asked for more time. Also at the end I asked thechnitian to make a circle around the dealrship. I found a car moving sound “sound of the sun” is a bit annoying. I hope there will be an option to turn it off. BTW don’t expect a complete silence inside while driving. It’s more or less the same as you may get in BMW x5, nothing extra-ordinary (maybe that noise cancellation should be enabled somewhere, I am not sure)

I saw a video discussing the active noise cancellation. It only activates or is apparent above a certain speed. I recall either 30 or 35 mph was mentioned. Below a certain speed it is not noticiable so maybe that is why you did not notice a difference. I don’t expect noise cancellation inside a car to be as noticiable as wearing noise cancellation headphones, but data does show some frequencies especially during higher car speeds can be lessen to some degree.

When my Debut edition finally gets delivered I’m going to take as much time as I need to check that software and make sure any issues are addressed or written up at time of signing any paperwork. These delays also make me want to lease the car vs. buying it outright. My guess some of the issues you experienced might have been addressed in the menu settings. Could be that the software allows for the microphone to be shut off which would explain a lot of what you saw. The cameras not working on the other hand can be a safety concern and should be more worrisome.

I’ve just got a call from the dealership. They told me that they had to replace a couple of modules in the car to solve all issues. So those were hardware issues, not software. I will conduct even more thorough inspection of the car on Friday again. I will post update here.

Oleg – thank you…. That confirms my suspicions…. A few early Silvers, then all BLACK.

You know, with several people mentioning that they’ve been told by their dealerships that they have been pushed over to 2024 models, those of us who have almost, like myself, been GUARANTEED a 2023 LUXURY manufactured the week of this upcoming April 17th, as a 2023 – contradicts what supposedly the Canadian (or some other UK country – I forget), Vice President has stated..

Instead of repeating the same article 4 times or more, it would be instructive if someone at GMA would ask OFFICIALDOM which is it?.

This is exactly why no gm EV will be on our shopping list as we replace our current Tesla. Can’t understand why anyone would buy a gm vehicle in the first year of production. gm quality is substandard.

I would worry me that the vehicle with all these problems cleared gm quality inspection and shipped to the dealer. Sounds like the old gm, build, ship let dealer fix problems.

This is no surprise from Cadillac. They like to do things that just takes advantage and more money from their customers. The deal that we were offered won’t cover the rise in price for an equivalently optioned awd 2024 lyriq compared to the awd 2023 lyriq . If you build the 2024 to the same options of the 2023 it would be a difference of about $12000.00. So getting a $5000.00 discount still doesn’t compare to the added expense. Anyone think breach of contract?

Today, conversation with Cadillac to check on order status via their chat. After being transferred to several different departments, here is what I am told: “Cadillac has projected that it will no longer produce the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ AWD, The AWD models will now be 2024. Have you spoken with your preferred dealership for updates on your order?” Dealership never reached out to me regarding my order status. Can anyone in the community provide guidance?

So my dealer is telling me they don’t know anything about the incentive and that it has to come directly from Cadillac. he also states he has no idea as to how they choose who gets the incentive, but it is not everyone. Anyone have any updates to that?
