The 2023 Buick Envision is the third model year for the second-generation crossover, introducing just a few changes and updates compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2023 Buick Envision is unavailable to order with a specific package option.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2023 Buick Envision is unavailable to order with the Premium Seat Package. Tagged with RPO code Y55, the Premium Seat Package has been unavailable to order for the 2023 Buick Envision since the start of regular production (SORP), and will remain unavailable throughout the remainder of the 2023 model year.
The Premium Seat Package for the 2023 Buick Envision includes the following content (relevant RPO codes and trim-specific content listed in parentheses):
- Driver 4-way power lumbar seat (AVK)
- Front passenger 4-way power lumbar seat (AVU) (included for Essence and Avenir trims only, but not the Preferred trim)
- Driver seat massage (AF6) (included for Avenir only, but not Preferred or Essence)
Models affected by this constraint will not be available for a retrofit.
Critically, this isn’t the first constraint that has affected the 2023 Buick Envision thus far. In fact, per previous GM Authority coverage, the crossover has faced constraints on the following content and features throughout the 2023 model year (relevant GM Authority coverage linked):
- Missing second key fob (R6I)
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert (UKC)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (UFG)
- Rear Park Assist (UD7)
- Front and Rear Park Assist (UD5)
- Heated front seats (KA1)
- Heated rear outboard seats (KA6)
- Ventilated front seats (KU9)
- Heated steering wheel (UVD)
As a reminder, the 2023 Buick Envision features the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine as the singular powerplant option. Peak output is rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which reaches the front wheels as standard, or all four wheels as an optional upgrade. The GM 9-speed automatic transmission provides the cog swaps.
Meanwhile, under the skin, the GM E2 platform, provides the underpinnings, while production takes place exclusively at the GM Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, China.

Wow. Are chips this scarce? Is this why for the upcoming 2023 Colorado, barring the ZR2, no the trim level has power or heated seats included in the cost of the truck?
$41K+ for a base Z71… manual seats, not heated, not ventilated, no heated steering wheel… completely ridiculous
$48K+ for a base ZR2… power driver, but not power passenger, heated but not ventilated, no heated steering wheel… again completely ridiculous
Even more ridiculous, being stuck with a 4-way manual passenger seat regardless of trim/price point.
What’s the automotive world coming to?
If you upgrade to leather and the heated and cool seats are added. I never seen cloth seats that were ventilated/cooled. Many base models in all makes and models don’t offer heated or cooled seats. BMW and Mercedes doesn’t even offer leather in base models its letherette, and then you have to upgrade to a much expensive package.
Z71. ZR2. These are not base models. For model year 2022, when you tick the ZR2 box and the price jumps to $46K+, your diver and front passenger seats are leather appointed, powered, and heated, along with the steering wheel being heated. For model year 2023, when you tick the ZR2 box and the price skyrockets to $48K+, you get the interior amenities of a base WT truck, all be it, the driver seat is power adjustable. Isn’t it ridiculous that a $2K year-over-year price increase gives you a de-contented truck with a WT interior? Isn’t it even more ridiculous that you have to shell out an additional $5K if you want to restore the ZR2 amenities that were included in the 2022 base ZR2?
$7K more for a 2023 ZR2 is insane. Consumers accepting this are insane.
Maybe it’s time to move production out of China for the North American market. These constraints most likely are due to China’s mishandling of Covid.
I solved the problem of buying a new Envision by going to a different auto manufacturer that actually built complete vehicles
Waiting on envision 1year keep ing my trade-in they just offered me 12000dollers less than 9 months ago for 23 envision get out of China
That along with the other existing constraints will kill sales, doesn’t GM realize that Buick buyers specifically want creature comforts? What else distinguishes a Buick from a Chevy?
Remember, these constrains are dependent on the Envision model selected. For the Avenir these constraints, to the best of my knowledge, do not apply. This is a copy of an Avenir window sticker that the dealer received in February. Now, there is a constraint listed on the window sticker, but it is on the Lane Change Alert.

Gm needs to build Buick envision in this country the good old USA China has to many issues and delays more likely on purpose this country is very capable in vehicles manufacturing I have a Buick envision so wake up America build here and I do have a Buick envision
I bought a new Envision in January 2023 . At the point of delivery I was told that there was only ” ONE KEY FOB ” ! On a fully loaded car with a family to have only one KEY FOB is both a SAFETY AND SECURITY RISK !
I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING A 2023 BUICK ENVISION UNTIL THIS SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUE IS FIXED !
I have a 2023 Envision Avenir on order and am told that it won’t have lumbar support on the front seats and yet they are included in the standard features list on the build and price site, have talked to customer assistance , they tell me its not available. Why don’t they then correct their advertised features ? I find this as misleading advertising. They offered to send me a coffee mug.
