GM has issued a product recall for certain units of the 2019 Cadillac XT4 due to an issue that results in a faulty rear view camera.
The problem: affected vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature may have a rear view camera that has the potential to fail or function intermittently due to a faulty video processing module (VPM).
The hazards: if the rear view camera were to function improperly, rear visibility would be reduced, leading to an increased risk of a crash or serious injury while backing up.
The fix: certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect the video processing module (VPM) and replace as necessary. Additionally, the VPM software may need to be updated.
Affected components: the video processing module (VPM).
Affected vehicles: 2019 Cadillac XT4.
Number of affected vehicles: it is uncertain at this time how many XT4 units are affected by this recall.
Owners should: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer.
