Refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 Crossover Images Leaked In China

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has just leaked images of the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4, revealing the appearance and other details of the Cadillac compact crossover’s mid-cycle update.

Chinese authorities again got ahead of General Motors by releasing the official SAIC-GM joint venture statement for the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4, which includes exterior pictures and general model information. China’s auto industry regulator not only scooped the 2024 XT4 from the automaker in the local market, but also showed off the vehicle’s final design ahead of its anticipated global debut in North America.

As GM Authority first teased back in August when we captured a prototype of the less-disguised vehicle, the upcoming 2024 Cadillac XT4 adopts a new front-end design that completely revamps its image and gives it a more sophisticated look. The first thing that stands out is the new split headlamp assembly that includes a more pronounced boomerang-shaped vertical element, slim horizontal daytime running lights, and lower-positioned main headlamps.

In addition, the 2024 Cadillac XT4’s front fascia features a larger grille with an upper bezel inspired by the brand’s latest models, as well as a longer hood and bumper with aggressive air inlets. The rest of the bodywork remains largely the same, with the exception of a discreet center backup light at the rear, and larger exhaust outlets.

There will be no mechanical changes for the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 in the Chinese market. The crossover will retain the existing mild-hybrid configuration as the standard powertrain, pairing the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine with an electric motor and 48V battery that generate 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It will be offered in FWD and AWD trims exclusively with GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission.

The upcoming refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 is expected to debut during the first half of this year in both China and North America, as a major and much-needed refresh for Cadillac’s compact crossover. Besides the front end, the other major change to the 2024 XT4 will be a new interior design with a large curved display for the driver’s instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, as well as more overall refinement.

    2. it doesn’t look much different from the new face of Buick or the current design theme from Chevy. With out the Cadillac emblem, it would be hard to tell what brand this is from.

      What’s up with the small (projector) headlights – not a fan? Please bring back more traditionally headlights or something that is more proportional.

  2. I wouldn’t say this looks cheap. It’s a nice looking refresh with more vertical elements in the headlights which I can appreciate

Maybe it’s a combination of the picture angle and paint color, but the vertical signature lighting element in the front appears to be dangling icicle-like, disconnected from another solid surface below it or next to it (which has been pushed out like a cheek inflated by the wind). In fairness, if that’s creating an air curtain to help with fuel economy, so be it, or if some newly allowed headlight technology is being implemented and needed that space, OK.

    Otherwise (separate from any interior changes), file the exterior revisions under “changes made for the sake of change”. Congrats, team, you’ve checked that box and spent your allotted MCE budget.

  6. I prefer the front design of GT4. The new XT4 in this picture is not bad, but I personally like the existing design better.

  7. Guess I’d have to see the old along side this, but either way it’s clear to me why the XT4 sells so poorly. This is just not a Cadillac in any way and it looks cheap with all that plastic everywhere. According to this article, they haven’t really changed anything on the mechanical side. Based on the two that I had to suffer through for loaner cars last year, I would never buy one in any way. Cadillac needs to just kill this thing off.

    1. I think the design is solid, they just need to tone down the cladding and bump power figures. GM puts out some of the most conservative MCEs. A lot of times they’re just changing front & rear fascia and that’s it. Looking forward to seeing the updated infotainment screen and interior though. Hopefully they modernized it a bit more.

      1. SonicSouz: Personal opinion I guess. I just don’t see anything on this thing that says Cadillac other than the emblems. Remove them and the name and even the most ardent car people would be hard pressed to say what it was from more than 20 feet.

        As for the way the two I had for nearly 2 weeks drove, there’s zero way I’d ever put my money on one. Never.

        1. How do you feel about the XT5 then? Not much difference, just a larger package. Genuinely asking if that seems more Cadillac luxury to you and what about it does so?

          1. JT: Good question. I don’t think of it as a Cadillac. In fact, I don’t honestly look at any SUV/CUV’s as being a Cadillac or Lincoln or Buick. I look at them as simply an SUV/CUV that is a little nicer than a Ford or Chevy. I fully understand that I am probably one in maybe 1,000 who doesn’t like the Escalade and look at it as a bad status symbol in which people who feel they need to get lot of attention buy. It’s a Chevy truck in nicer trim. Again, yes I know I’m in a super minority there.

            The only vehicles I feel are close to a real Cadillac any more are the CT4/CT5. In order to be a true Cadillac, they need to ditch the stupid CT4/5 and go to nice names, then spend more on the interiors to make them more luxury.

            BTW, my sister-in-law back in IL is on her 2nd XT5 (first was the SRX) and she loves them. I can’t stand them an hate riding in hers when I’m there. Back seat sucks.

        2. I don’t know. I digress. The vertical light elements give it away as Cadillac for me easy. Also just about every modern GM car has a faint crease running down the center of the hood. Look it up. I’m not kidding. Maybe I’m just keen because I like GM. I will agree most reviews I’ve seen say this car is quite mediocre and it’s saddening honestly, because GM does this to just about everything that’s not a Camaro, Corvette or one of their trucks/full-sized SUVs.

          1. SonicSouz: I’m not saying you are wrong, just that I find this thing to be one of the worst “Cadillac’s” in many years. It drives terrible, rides bad, seating sucks, dash sucks and I hated every second of that 9 speed trans. Based on that alone, I would NEVER buy anything GM with the 9 speed. My current car is a 2021 Malibu that drives light years nicer than the XT4. When I had those two XT4 loaners, I had a 2020 Cadillac CT4 with the 8 speed. Although I was not overly impressed with the 8 speed, I appreciated it that much more after driving the XT4 and the entire car (CT4) was better in every way possible.

            Anyhow, now I’m just rambling on. Sorry about that.

            1. I understand where you’re coming from. Ford passed on the 9 speed for a reason when they codeveloped the 10 speed and 9 speed trans

              1. I didn’t know or recall that about Ford. Here’s my take on all these 8, 9 and 10 speeds. Totally unnecessary unless you are simply trying to be competitive. Otherwise it’s just adding more cost and complexity for no true reason. I find the best combination to be a 6 speed like GM did use and Mazda still uses today. In the past when I brought this up, I had a lot of people on here jump on me about being wrong. Yet nobody has been able to show any true benefit to the 8 or 9 or 10 speed outside of competition. They don’t get better MPG, they are not as smooth, they are constantly hunting for a gear and they only add to the already expensive cars. Personally I’d be fine with the old GM 4 speed like Buick put in the large Park Avenues with a huge V6 that got as good of MPG as this XT4 with a 4 and 9 speed.

                1. The 8, 9, and 10 speeds do help with MPG, but barely. I’m sure when they test these cars they do whatever they can to get the most MPG for EPA ratings but thats under certain conditions that most people won’t be driving under.

                  Also more gears with closer ratios keep the cars engine closer to its optimal power band under acceleration.

  8. It honestly just looks the same, Cadillac really should go the direction of the Lyriq in terms of design. It looks just like any other bland crossover.

  10. I think its a solid refresh, I can’t wait to see the interior! I hope XT6 follows suit and I only wish they would produce a V version. Do we know the official reveal date?

  11. I personally think it looks good. Front looks aggressive. Only if they put the 2.7 L in it and make it a v model
