The 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison has once again been spotted testing in public as a prototype, giving us yet another look at the upcoming off-roader pickup. This time, however, we’re getting a much cleaner look at the truck’s front fascia.
The last time we saw the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison testing was in December when GM Authority spy photographers caught a prototype model towing a large trailer. At the time, the prototype was wearing camouflage that obscured the front fascia design, but now, some of that camo has been removed.
The new front bumper is similar to that of the standard Chevy Colorado ZR2, but with a few key differences. The Bison’s bumper, for example, looks to be a little higher and slightly reshaped, enhancing the truck’s off-road presence even further.
Overall, the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison looks formidable on the road, boasting extra width, a taller ride height, and of course, an aggressive approach angle, all of which are clearly on display with this prototype model. Additionally, the tires appear to be taller than those equipped by the standard Chevy Colorado ZR2, rocking what appears to be a set of 35-inch-tall tires. The bigger rubber would be an upgrade over the standard Colorado ZR2’s 33-inch tires, and would serve as a more-appropriate answer to the tires equipped by Ford Bronco models outfitted with the available Sasquatch package.
Further updates specific to the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison include a unique rear bumper, as well as more robust skid plates to protect vital bits under the body. Also note the flared-out fenders and the protective rocker guards. Previously, the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison was spotted with a spare wheel holder in the bed. The Colorado ZR2 Bison is once again the product of a collaboration with aftermarket manufacturer American Expedition Vehicles (AEV).
GM debuted the third-generation Chevy Colorado for the 2023 model year, with the power spec now featuring the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as standard. The four-cylinder is available in three states of tune, with ZR2 models running the top 2.7L Turbo High-Output tune good for 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Under the body, the new Chevy Colorado rides on an updated version of the GMT 31XX platform. Production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Nice truck how’z about a 2-door model for people that have to carry more than 2 people.🤩
The extra cab only could carry kids or amputees in back.
The build option and pricing is not on the Chevy website but you can build a 2023 Colorado on the gmfamilyfirst website and see the pricing. The Bison package is not there yet however.
The Bison is not ready to be built yet based on the photos I see above. Try next year.
Thanks for the heads up, I was waiting to see the pricing. And people put thumbs down on that post is because why?
Just idiots the thumbs mean nothing anyways.
Pricing will be around the time of release and orders open. Again it will be next year. A lot can happen so they will not price them now.
Just as a guess it will likely be 4-5K more than the ZR2 depending on the content. At least that is what they are now.
Dang, the ZR2 Bison looks like it means business!
Without a lower final drive gear ratio, those bigger-heavier tires are going to pull the power down.
The current AEV Bisons get 4.10 gears w/ 35″ tires.
Looks sweet. Now, how about a reg cab short box. GM will miss the boat again. Some people just want a sportier version of a truck. Not everybody wants a crew cab, or extended version. Also, the availibllty of a V8, would be super. I know, GM wants smaller engines and EV’s. But, if a customer wants, or needs a V8, they should be able to order one. Maybe pay a premium. But If GM makes it, one should be able to order it in almost anything they make.
I can understand one WANTING a V8… because reasons, I suppose. But, when would one actually NEED a V8 in this application, where the new 2.7T provides more torque at a lower RPM, equal towing capability, greater payload, and greater fuel efficiency vs the 5.3L, at least in Silverado? I’m sure it would be similar in Colorado.
Yes you are probably correct on the 4 banger specs. But…. my past dealings with GM’s 4 bangers, is they have always started out with lots of hoopla. But a few thousand miles down the road, they become boat anchors. Give me a good old Chevy small block, over ten 4 bangers. Even better yet, give me a Big Block. ‘Nuff said.
Do not lump this engine in with the past. I used to do that and found different with the Turbo I owned a few years back.
10 Years, 300 HP and 23 PSI of boost and no breakage.
Harlie, you hit the nail on the head. My luck with 4 bangers, was no good! 3,000 miles down they come apart. A little bit at a time. GM will tell you, you are using the wrong old. Not changing it enough. Anything to not repair or replace. Just think, A 4 banger is doing the work of an 8 cylinder. Half the holes half the life. The bean counters will tell you. It’s just as good as a V8. We just have to put a turbo on it. No problem. BS!!!!!. Like Harlie said, give us a small block, or better yet, a Mark 4 Big Block. Thats why Edelbrock and company’s like them, are getting rich selling Chevy engines. Bring back COPO!!!!!
Sorry but you’re in the vast minority that wants a reg cab. There is absolutely no way GM could make money on a reg cab. Do you realize how much a second body style would cost to engineer and produce? Would be impossible to break even let alone a profit on such low running style/option
Although I do agree a V8 should have been used.
So few long beds and extra cabs were sold that cost pushed for only the crew this time.
While it would have been great to have them the profits were not deep enough to spend the money development of two more platforms.
I was planning to get a 2023 or 2024 Colorado Crew cab, but after owning a 2018 Colorado with the 6.2ft bed, no way could I drop down to a 5 foot bed! I can barely get anything in my 6.2ft bed now! I’ll hang on to my 2018 until GM decides to add a 6.2ft bed, then I’ll buy one!
The 2024 price on the colorado zr2 bison I heard between $67.000 and $90.000 on a 4 cylinder engine. No choice like a 6 cylinder . I think you are pricing yourself out of the market it’s sad.
