Here’s When 2024 Chevy Silverado HD Orders Will Open

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD got its big debut last September, with GM pulling the sheets on a full model refresh that includes new vehicle styling, a fully overhauled cabin, new tech bits, and powertrain updates to boot. Now, GM Authority has learned when orders for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD will open up.

According to GM Authority sources, dealers will be able to begin using the quick order configuration tool for retail orders of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD on January 12th, 2023, and fleet orders on January 26th, 2023. GM will only being picking up these orders starting January 19th, 2023.

To note, the above dates exclude the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2, a new addition to the heavy-duty pickup’s lineup set to launch later in the 2023 calendar year. The new Silverado HD ZR2 features revised bumpers, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, front and rear locking differentials, and other off-road-oriented goodies.

Per another GM Authority exclusive published last month, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is set to kick off in February of the 2023 calendar year. Production will take place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

Once again offered in both 2500HD and 3500HD configurations, as well as single-rear-wheel and dual-rear-wheel configurations, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD feature bold, upright styling with a large horizontally oriented grille and C-shaped LED lighting signatures. The cabin for LT trim levels and above was reworked as well, and now includes an all-new 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable driver information center, as well as new and enhanced trailering features.

Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Silverado is offered with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine as standard, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine as optional, the latter of which received a boost in output to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the Silverado HD rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform.

      1. I am sure “Ford Authority” misses your inaccurate posts Nelson, but my friends with 2500 and 3500 SRW Dmax GM’s from 2020-23 are getting around 20 MPG highway unloaded.

        Thanks for the missinformation anyway.

        1. Shopping a new HD with 6.6 gas.. Polled several local owners and best reported unloaded MPG is around 12. I am looking elsewhere.. Shame because the new 2024 is one sweet looking truck. Love everything about it except for the MPG

        2. I would rather get 4 or 5 mpg in a Chevy or GMC than be seen in a butt ugly Dodge or a Ford any day.

      2. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you ordered. GM will ship your order when they – yes they think you have had a long enough wait. my order was placed 9/19/22. I guess the wait isn’t long enough.

        1. I bought a GMC 2500 off the lot Jan. 3rd. No wait what so ever!

        1. First, her last name is Barra so that may be why your email is not getting anywhere. Do you have the correct address?

Second, do you honestly believe that the CEO of a multi-billion $ corporation would answer an email about where your truck is?

          1. sent to Barra, yes if someone sends me an email i respond – most ceos do

    2. GM needs to do a better job of providing more detailed status and reasons for delays when ordering vehicles – especially since the days of full lots will probably never return.

There are just too many variables such as dealer allocation, option constraints, etc… that are too secretive. Ordering a $65K item shouldn’t be a secretive process with an uncertain outcome.

      2. Perhaps GM should learn from BMW and MB among other known high customer satisfaction companies and provide a live web based app that allows a buyer to track production progress and anticipated arrival dates. The technology is both awesome and accurate from my experience with it.

    1. GMs latest 2023 Buildout/2024 Startup information listing the 2024 Silverado HD trucks 1/12/2023 order entry date and 1/19/2023 inital DOSP cyscle was released 11-1-2022. Keep in mind that your dealer entering a preliminary (1100) order means nothing until it moves into “System” (2500 or above), which happens after the dealership gets allocation of the model AND any “constrained” options you want, and may be well after 1/19/2023, especially depending how many other sold orders they have taken that are in front of yours.

In any case your dealership either needs to check its bulletins more often or keep its salespeople better informed.

  13. All I know is I ordered a 2022 / 3500 LT Dec of 2021 and it was completed by March 7th, received it in May of 2022. Remember The Truck was completed in March. most of all of the griping that is going on should be focused on the UAW. My truck sat in the train yard in Jacksonville Fl for 2 months, they would not allow the dealer to pick it up. To move things faster I did all paperwork and threatened to report the truck stolen after all papers were in my hand, guess what the truck was delivered the next morning after the dealer manager told the UAW ,what i was ready to do. I just ordered my 2024 / 3500 in Jan my dealer called me here in upstate NY and advised me that the truck is supposed to go in production March 6 and with all the extras I won’t know the price. until March

One thing everyone should know all dealers are different. Stay in communication with your sales rep and if he or she is good they will push the floor manager for you to communicate with the district manager. I live and work in upstate NY I’ll travel to my guys in Fl every time.
    Hope this was helpful.

  14. Ordered a new HD Silverado in Feb 2022. Dealer reordered as a 23. Now dealer has reordered as a 24. But now there is no silver & gray is a constraint, 20 inch wheels are a constraint. Ok give me red with 18”. But convenience package is also constraint

  16. I’m now being told that I can’t order the plain jane 2500 WT I had been trying to get them to order for some time – they don’t have and can’t get “regular” mirrors and “may” need to add a pricey option for dark tinted glass and electric seat adjustment (“convenience package”) to run the price up more than $one thousand dollars to get on order. This after too many delays/stalls to begin with – but after I already made a deposit. They say they can’t just enter the order so that the production people are aware of and can plan/schedule the demand – I’ve agreed to wait as long as it takes, last rolling date was maybe 5-6 months AFTER my order goes in. Incredible. I just don’t want to go to the back of the order line 6 months or more from now – then wait for yet another Chev price increase.

Is it true that orders can’t be entered if all parts are not on hand? Doesn’t sound like good business or production planning. Really wanted the Chev but I’m about one more stall away from going Ford Super Duty, aluminum skin and all.
