GMC Hummer EV SUV Production Starts Today

General Motors unveiled the all-new GMC Hummer EV SUV in April of the 2021 calendar year, introducing a fresh utility vehicle body style for the all-electric off-roader. Now, production of the GMC Hummer EV SUV is getting underway at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, while customers will start receiving their vehicles near the end of Q1 2023.

Production of the GMC Hummer EV SUV is underway now.

The first models to roll off the line at the Factory Zero facility will be the range-topping GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1, which is equipped as standard with 22-inch premium wheels, assist steps, and floor liners. The Edition 1 is also equipped with the top three-motor, 20-module powertrain, with peak output rated at 830 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, enough to catapult the rig from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds with Watts To Freedom mode activated. Range-per-charge is estimated at more than 300 miles.

Customers are also offered the optional Extreme Off-Road package, which swaps in new 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch-OD MT tires, as well as extensive underbody armor, rock sliders, a front eLocker and virtual rear lockers, heavy duty ball-spline half shafts, and UltraVision with underbody camera views to spot potentially hidden obstructions while bashing around on the trail.

The rest of the GMC Hummer EV SUV lineup includes the Hummer EV3X SUV, the Hummer EV2X SUV, and the EV2 SUV, all of which will be available this coming spring. The Hummer EV3X SUV runs the same three-motor, 20-module powertrain as the Edition 1, while the Hummer EV2X SUV and EV2 SUV run a 625-horsepower two-motor setup. The EV2X SUV is juiced by a 20-module battery, and the EV2 SUV is juiced by a 16-module battery. All trim levels are equipped with GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium drive motors, while the GM BT1 platform provides the bones.

Pricing for the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 starts at $105,595, while pricing for the GMC Hummer EV2 SUV starts at $79,995. However, as GM Authority reported last October, the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Pickup are sold out for at least the next two years.

  3. Just saw a Hummer EV for the first time in the suburbs of Loudoun County this month. Meanwhile I saw many Rivian R1Ts and Ford Lightnings already. At GM’s build rate it wouldn’t surprise me if I see a Tesla Cybertruck before I see Hummer EV SUV, lol!
