The GM Authority Take
GM Mexico sales ended 2022 with a noteworthy double-digit increase in December, achieving an outstanding volume of 18,899 units that represents The General’s highest monthly sales volume in the Latin country in recent history. As a result, the automaker not only surpassed the healthy 14,496 deliveries recorded in November, but also recorded its ninth consecutive month of growth in the Mexican market.
The strong GM Mexico sales results in December 2022 were supported by increases in most of the models offered in the local market. Of particular note are the high double- and triple-digit increases in the best-selling Chevy Onix, Captiva and Tracker. The Onix cemented its position as the company’s best-selling vehicle for the month, though the Aveo still held the top spot in total sales for the year. In addition, the locally built GMC Terrain stood out with the most dramatic increase of the month thanks to increased local availability of the crossover.
Chevrolet’s strong pickup offerings also saw healthy levels of performance in December, with the Chevy Silverado setting one of its best-ever monthly sales records while positioning itself as the segment leader for the month. Additionally, the new Chevy S10 Max outsold the highly-popular Toyota Hilux, placing second in its category. Finally, the Chevy Colorado saw double-digit increases during the moth as well as during the complete calendar year.
