GM unveiled the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV in April of the 2021 calendar year, expanding the all-electric Hummer lineup with an all-new boxy utility vehicle body style. Now, per tradition, the first retail production example will be auctioned off for charity.
The first retail production example of the new 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will be auctioned off as Lot 3002 at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale, Arizona, set to take place January 21st through the 29th at WestWorld of Scottsdale. One-hundred percent of the hammer price will be donated to Tread Lightly!, a non-profit organization focusing on promoting outdoor ethics to balance the needs of outdoor enthusiasts with the need to maintain healthy ecosystems and thriving populations of fish and wildlife.
The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 is covered in Moonshot Green Matte paint, lending it a unique, yet aggressive aesthetic. Inside the cabin, the SUV is draped in the Lunar Shadow theme, complemented by Tech Bronze accents.
Standout features include access to the elements via the SUV’s Infinity Roof feature, with removable transparent Sky Panels that can be stowed away in the eTrunk up front. The SUV also features GM Super Cruise, the automaker’s semi-autonomous driver assist system enabling hands-free driving on highways across North America, plus a 14-speaker Bose audio system with Centerpoint and Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement.
As for the powertrain, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 runs a three-motor setup with e4WD. Motivated by GM Ultium drive motors and GM Ultium batteries, the setup is good for a maximum of 830 horsepower, while onboard four-wheel steering with CrabWalk mode keeps the rig maneuverable. With Watts to Freedom mode active, the SUV will sprint to 60 mph in an estimated 3.5 seconds.
Reservations for the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 filled quick, with every unit spoken for within an hour of books opening. Pricing starts at $105,595, but odds are the final auction price for this first production example will be much, much higher.
