Corvette Z06 Driver Clocked At 106 MPH In 45 Zone, Gets Arrested

High-powered sports cars like the C7 Corvette Z06 can be a lot of fun, especially on the race track, which is really the only place the Corvette Z06 can safely unleash its full performance potential. Unfortunately, one driver in Las Vegas decided to put the pedal down on the street, a move that landed them a firsthand tour of the back of a police squad car.

In a recent post to social media, the North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) published photos of a C7 Corvette Z06 getting loaded onto the back of a flatbed tow truck. The car looks awesome, with a menacing gray paint finish, big black wheels, enormous red brake calipers, and that characteristic shark-like front end.

Indeed, the C7 Corvette Z06 is a helluva machine, and it has the performance to match the striking exterior. However, putting that performance to the test out on public roads can quickly land you in jail, as the driver of this particular Corvette Z06 found out after they were clocked at 106 mph in a 45 mph zone.

According to the NLVPD post, the Corvette Z06 driver was arrested near the intersection of Deer Springs Way and Losee Road. Charges include six counts of reckless driving, driving without a driver’s license, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and no proof of insurance. According to the social media post, the driver was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correction Center. Law enforcement also joke that this particular Corvette Z06 belonged to the driver’s mom.

Luckily, no one was hurt by the driver’s shenanigans. With the supercharged and intercooled 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine under that louvered hood, the C7 Corvette Z06 throws down with 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, enough to send the sports car from a standstill to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Impressive stuff – for the racetrack, that is.

but as the article says, not on streets, not in a posted 45mph zone.
no excuses here, but the keys should be locked up. children taught to respect

I use my C7 Z06 as a daily driver, and it’s a joy. True, you can rarely have a soul-satisfying blast through the first 3 gears, let alone the next 3. But there’s wheelspin in second on demand, always a pleasure, and when a Lesser Vehicle needs to be disciplined, well, no problem. Long live stick shift Corvette’s with immense power!

  8. This world is just full of people like this, “power without any responsibilities”….this may be the first time this “kid” has been caught doing something stupid but you can bet your sweet ass it won’t be the last. You just hide and watch, we’ll hear about this joker again in the not too distant future, and if it isn’t his mothers Corvette, it’ll be his girlfriends or buddies vehicle, these types of idiots are always “connected” in life, and whether it’s drugs or whatever is illegal or dangerous, you’ll find these clowns involved because they obviously haven’t had a proper upbringing that shows respect for great power and how to properly use that great power. Keep an eye on your local news channel, if not this “kid” directly, it’ll be another persons “kid” who pushes the envelope whether they’re driving, drinking and driving, using drugs and driving or just plain showing off and at the worst possible time or location…they strive for peer recognition and damn if they don’t get it, but at what cost? Happy New Year, take care and may the new year bring us all peace and “more people with common sense”.

  11. Been there. Done that.

It was on U.S. Highway 160 on the Navajo reservation in Northern Arizona near Kayenta in the middle of the night. Was coming back from Phoenix to the Four Corners. The Navi patrolman clocked me at 120. Was nice to him and he wrote the ticket for 80. Still a foolish speed with sheep and mule deer crossing the highway. Also the occasional walking Navi.

Most people that want to open up their engines do so in this part of the country in the middle of the night on Interstate 80 in Northern Nevada between Fernley and Lovelock, and Lovelock and Winnemucca before the summits toward Battle Mountain. The exotics reach 180+ and beyond 200+ on a cool dry night. The Nevada Department of Transportation does an excellent job of road maintenance on Interstate 80. When you get to the Nevada – Utah state line at Wendover going eastbound into Utah the road surface maintenance by the Utah Department of Transportation is disappointing. A few potholes will put your vehicle flying into the Salt Flats.

It’s all about conditions, care and control. At speeds beyond 100+ mph on public roads, roadway surface lack of traffic and animals is most important. Over 60 on a city street is crazy. Be safe out there.

  12. I hate to put myself out there, but I was stopped for going 150 in a 75 zone. Now before everyone dumps on me, a suspicious looking BMW kept pacing me on the highway. I would go 80, he would go 80. I’d go 85, and he would creep up and just sit in my blindspot. I would take the same action as I did back then. I have no idea why he was pacing me and sitting in my blind spot, but I don’t take chances in today’s world.

  13. The author of this article has a problem with the “menacing” Corvette, with “big black wheels” and “enormous red brake calipers.” Many cars on the road today can do 106mph so why single out the Corvette? Blame the driver, not the car.

  14. The US should start destroying/crushing cars that exhibit reckless driving. This happens in Europe. People will start to think twice before exhibition of speed and reckless driving. I’m sure sure it will slow down the number of sideshows.

    1. Why crush the beautiful car? For sale at public auction to the highest bidder! Win for the state/county/city, win for the new owner of the car and big loss for the entitled idiot racing their toy. They can even attend to see other people bid on their toys since didn’t know how to follow the rules.

      1. BobM, My comment is about using good grammar. It’s not about being bigoted. I know pronouns are a hot topic right now, but this has nothing to do with that. Name calling doesn’t help.

OBVIOUSLY THE PARENTS HAVE FAILED TO TEACH THEIR KID ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE. MY WIFE AND CHILDREN OR GRANDPARENTS COULD HAVE BEEN INNOCENTLY WALKING ON THE SIDEWALK WHEN THIS FREAKING IDIOT COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL AND RAN THEM OVER OR SOMETHING HORRIBLE TO THAT EFFECT. THE MOM OR DAD NEEDS TO BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF HIM RIGHT THERE IN THE JAILHOUSE! JESUS I’M SO RILED UP RIGHT NOW… I THINK I’LL GO UP TO LAS VEGAS AND BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THAT KID MYSELF!

Articles like this are just meant to subconsciously punish people with higher than average horsepower cars. My 97 Buick LeSabre Limited will do 106 into 45 if I want to do it! 🤣🤣

  25. 1stvoff you do not need a driver’s license to be on the road as a Traveler nor do you have to show if you have them. Secondly it’s only infraction of not following standards of a Traveler which is why he was stopped in the 1st place but he didn’t have to prove anything if he knows his rights under the constitution. Nonetheless he was stupid for his actions, he brought all this upon himself which is probably why he doesn’t have credentials anyway.
