Chevy Malibu Pricing
For reference, here are the 2022 and 2023 Chevy Malibu starting MSRPs by trim level, including the $1,095 destination freight charge:
2022 Malibu
- LS – $24,495
- RS – $25,495
- LT – $27,895
- Premier – $34,595
2023 Malibu
- LS – $25,795
- RS – $26,795
- LT – $29,195
- 2LT – $32,595
The 2022 Chevy Malibu is the seventh model year of the nameplate’s ninth generation, with minor changes that include the deletion of several dealer-installed accessories along with the discontinuation of the base L trim level, making the LS the new entry-level trim.
The 2023 Chevy Malibu ushers in a variety of important changes and updates compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Along with a price increase of $1,300 on most trims, the midsize sedan no longer offers the Premier trim level nor the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine that powered it along with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Going forward, the 2023 Malibu is available exclusively with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV gasoline engine, which mates to the MRG continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This combination was previously offered for all 2022 model-year Chevy Malibu trim levels, with the exception of the Premier. Output is rated at 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.
Chevy has now repackaged the Premier as the new 2LT trim level. As a result, the 2023 Malibu’s top trim now costs $2,000 less than that of the 2022 model. Additionally, two of the Malibu’s dealer-installed convenience packages are no longer available to order.
GM Authority recently learned that GM is beginning plans on a next-generation, 2025 Chevy Malibu. The midsize sedan’s future may have finally been decided with this latest news.
Production for the 2023 Chevy Malibu kicked off at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City on September 7th, 2022. The online configurator tool is now live for the 2023 Malibu.

For all you Malibu apologists, now’s your chance to put up and buy. Hope you like CVTs.
Buick City: And yet, you can’t find them on dealer lots. They may show on a website, but the dealers don’t have them or have few. The dealer I work with told me 3 days ago that they have zero and sell every one they can get.
GM putting incentives on cars they don’t have is just a way to garner attention and try to bring people into the dealers. Once there, the story changes a lot.
Finance a Malibu for 6 years at 4.99%? That’s over $5,000 paid in interest if you finance the full price. No, thanks!
CVT won’t last that long anyway.
There is no data that shows that. Nissan years ago, had some issues and they put an extended warranty on them and corrected that, otherwise for a smaller DD they are completely fine and just as reliable as a regular transmission. These transmissions are used in a wide array of heavy-duty construction equipment too and powerful off-road machines, they will last just fine and are much simpler with much less things that can go wrong than a regular transmission with tons more parts in it. Maybe try some new material next time when you don’t like something and try to lie about it…
Guess you haven’t checked finance rates lately…4.99% ain’t that bad for a car that’s selling well.
Maybe it can move up from last place (unless you split the Korean twins, but if you do that, you need to split Silverado and Sierra and cede to Ford the truck crown).
