Chandler Smith To Drive No. 13 NASCAR Chevy In Select 2023 Races

Chandler Smith will make his Cup Series debut in the 2023 racing season, taking control of the No. 13 NASCAR Chevy Camaro ZL1 in a handful of racing events, including the 2023 Daytona 500.

The No. 13 NASCAR Chevy will be the third entry fielded by Kaulig Racing at the Cup Series level, putting Smith on track alongside his full-time teammates AJ Allmendinger in the No. 16 Camaro and Justin Haley in the No. 31. Kaulig Racing also fields the No. 16 Camaro for Smith in the Xfinity Series, where he will compete full-time as a rookie in 2023.

Smith will attempt to qualify the No. 13 Cup Series Camaro for the Daytona 500 during the qualifying sessions on February 15th, 2023, for the event on February 19th. If he succeeds, he will also race in the Duels at Daytona on February 16th, which are qualifying heats that ultimately set the field for the Daytona 500.

Smith is also slated to drive the No. 13 Camaro in four other Cup Series events throughout 2023, including Richmond Raceway on April 2nd, the All Star Race on May 21st, Talladega Superspeedway on October 1st and the season finale at Phoenix Raceway on November 5th.

Smith’s No. 13 NASCAR Chevy will carry the colors of Quick Tie, which is a proprietary hold down system for high wind and seismic construction purposes.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Smith said in a press release. “As a kid, you always have the goal of one day racing in the Cup Series. I’m hoping that comes true in this year’s Daytona 500. I’m thankful for Harvel Crumley and Quick Tie for the opportunity to run in multiple Cup races this year, and I’m beyond appreciative in the belief that [team owners] Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice have in me.”
