The Cadillac XT5 luxury crossover was introduced for the 2017 model year, with a model refresh following for the 2020 model year. The XT5 will soldier on largely unchanged for 2024, while a next-generation Cadillac XT5 is destined exclusively for China.

During the recent GM Investor Day event, GM President Mark Reuss said, “This is for China only, as we move Cadillac in the United States to an all-electric brand. The XT5 is still a very high-volume segment in China, and we’re going to do that with a new design language interpretation, both inside and out.”

Reuss confirmed the upcoming debut of a new, small all-electric Cadillac crossover for the 2024 calendar year, as well as future all-electric Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL full-size Cadillac SUVs. The new all-electric crossover will be smaller than the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq in terms of exterior dimensions, and is expected to carry one of several recently trademarked names – Optiq, Symboliq, Lumistiq, Acsendiq, or Vistiq. As for the Lyriq, it may end up serving as the EV replacement for the XT5, a two-row luxury compact crossover in Cadillac’s lineup.

Production of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 began at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee on June 10th, 2022. The online configurator tool is now live for the 2023 XT5.
