2024 Chevy Silverado HD To Lose These Five Paint Colors

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD made its formal introduction in September, debuting a full model refresh complete with revised exterior styling, a brand-new interior, fresh tech goodies, and a few powertrain updates as well. Critically, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD also introduces a revised exterior paint options list, as featured here.

According to GM Authority sources, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD will drop the following five exterior paint options previously offered for the 2023 model year (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):

  • Cherry Red Tintcoat (GSK)
  • Greenstone Metallic (GHR)
  • Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8)
  • Northsky Blue Metallic (GA0)
  • Silver Ice Metallic (GAN)

These five outgoing hues will be replaced by six new colors, specifically:

  • Auburn Metallic (G48)
  • Dark Ash Metallic (G6M)
  • Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP)
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Slate Gray Metallic (GNO)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is once again offered as both a 2500HD and 3500HD model, as well as either in a single-rear-wheel or dual-rear-wheel configuration. The exterior was updated and includes a large, upright front fascia with a horizontally oriented grille and C-shaped lighting signatures. For LT trim levels and above, the heavy duty pickup features an overhauled cabin space equipped with an all-new 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable driver information center.

As for the greasy bits, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is once again offered as optional, but output was increased with the 2024 model year refresh to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform. Production will kick off in February of the 2023 calendar year at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada, with orders opening this month.

  1. Looks like Chevy’s “Dark Ash Metallic” is basically GMC’s “Titanium Rush Metallic”.

    1. All 6 colors have a GMC equivalent. I did note one of the outgoing GMC colors didn’t seem to be available on the Chevy unless it was mistakenly omitted here and that would be Hunter Metallic (GED).

    2. I thought that the Dark Ash Metallic looks a bit purple in certain lighting.

  2. I liked the out-going cherry red tint coat better than the new radiant red tint coat which is too dark in my opinion.

  4. In the market for a 2024 2500 High Country and I’m bummed their dropping the Greenstone and have completely redesigned the jet black/umber interior. There’s some 2023s out there but nothing with what I want and no more 2023 orders are being taken. I like the Auburn Metallic but I’ve learned it’s the one new color that isn’t available on the High Country…go figure.

  5. Does anyone know if the 2024 Silverado HD (gas) will have the Allison badge on the hood?

  6. Why won’t GM list or show the Amber color that they are offering on the 2024 2500 HD trucks

    1. It is only available on the LT and LTZ. You can see it at https://www.chevrolet.com/trucks/silverado/2500hd-3500hd and select LTZ. The online doesn’t look the same as if you see it in person. It’s also been available on the Tahoe (and maybe others) for a couple years now and you can see it that way as well.
