2023 Chevy Trailblazer Vivid Orange Paint Built Out For Model Year

The 2023 Chevy Trailblazer is a popular offering from The General in the subcompact crossover segment. Previously, GM Authority reported that the Blue Glow Metallic paint color was built out for the remainder of the 2023 model year. Now, we’ve learned that Vivid Orange Metallic paint is also done for the rest of 2023 model-year production.

Originally introduced on the Trailblazer for the 2022 model year, it’s currently unclear if Vivid Orange Metallic (color code GHD) will return for the 2024 model year, or be replaced with a new color. On the 2023 model, this hue was available on LS, LT and Activ trim levels at an extra charge of $395; it was not offered at all on the RS trim.

Vivid Orange Metallic was initially one of 10 exterior colors available on the 2023 Trailblazer (relevant color code in parenthesis):

  • Blue Glow Metallic (GGK)
  • Crimson Metallic (GFM)
  • Fountain Blue (GLN)
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (GP5)
  • Mahogany Red Metallic (GHL)
  • Mosaic Black Metallic (GB0)
  • Nitro Yellow Metallic (GHS)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (GZB)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Vivid Orange Metallic (GHD)

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer is offered with two engine choices, the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which develops 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, which produces 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The 1.2L LIH is mated to GM’s continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while the 1.3L L3T is mated to either the CVT the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Under the skin, the 2023 Trailblazer rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while production began on April 24th at the GM Bupyeong plant, which supplies the Trailblazer to all markets except for China. Meanwhile, the GM China Dong Yue plant in Yantai, China previously built the Trailblazer for the Chinese domestic market, which has since been discontinued there.

  1. Can anyone help me understand this? First, the nice blue and now this orange. I understand if a heated seat or some other electronic feature would not be available if chips were low. But paint? How? Why?

At this rate, these boxes will only be available in two shades of gray, black or white. Just what we need is more black and gray SUV/CUV’s clogging up the roads. I do like that blue. Not a fan of the orange, but at least it gives some color to these things.

  3. Am curious as to the 3 cylinder Trailblazer engine practicality ? Four would be a naturally balanced crank shaft engine…..but three ?

  5. the 3 cylinder engine is also a turnoff for me on the Trailblazer……looking at Subru with the square 4 flat engine (style used in the “Peoples Car” of the Third Reich (VW Bug), a very sturdy and reliable engine), appears to me to be the way to go !

  6. Where does GM get the idea buyers want a 3 cylinder engine…………………..difficult to balance and sounds like a lawn mower when goosed !
