The Chevy Montana is a small pickup truck offered in South America and Mexico, as well as some other foreign markets. One of the biggest features of the next-gen 2023 Montana, which debuted on December 1st, 2022 and began production earlier this week, is a new cargo bed with a bevy of storage solutions.
Dubbed the Multi-Flex cargo bed, this innovative feature is designed to function as a regular pickup cargo bed, but also as a giant 874-liter (31 cubic-foot) trunk. Featuring an advanced sealing system that provides superb water protection, this trunk is also available with an extensive line of customized accessories to provide hundreds of solutions for cargo transportation.
One of the more notable additions is the multi-board dividers, which serve to wall off certain areas of the truck bed from others. Consisting of two rails, a shelf, and a board, these dividers allow owners plenty of flexibility in loading, storing and hauling items in the rear of the truck.
As a reminder, GM officially unveiled the 2023 Chevy Montana last December during a special broadcast on the Chevrolet Brazil YouTube channel. Designed to compete primarily in the South American market, the all-new Montana will serve as Chevy’s first compact unibody pickup. Riding on an extended variant of the GM GEM platform, the 2023 Montana meshes together a crew cab body configuration with a Chevy Blazer-inspired exterior design. Meanwhile, production of the all-new Montana takes place at the GM São Caetano do Sul plant.
Under the hood, the 2023 Montana is equipped as standard with a custom-calibrated 1.2L turbocharged engine, rated at 133 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. As for transmission options, prospective buyers can choose from either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. A front-wheel drivetrain will be the only layout available.

Just a quick question are gm looking hopefully to bring the Montana Ute to Australia
Is GM going to bring the Montana to the USA
Keep in mind that years ago, Chevy produced a crew cab S-10 truck for the South American market. Even though already being built, they would not release it to the United States. At the same time in the U.S., foreign manufacturers were selling their crew cab small pickups like crazy. Americans wanted a smaller crew cab truck (just as they now do) – but Chevy is not smart enough to bring the Montana to the U.S.A.
Have to guess they figure that they make more profit selling their full-size Silverado and Sierra trucks in the US
Good suggestion, but do a price comparison on a Silverado and a similarly-equipped Colorado. The smaller is cheaper to build and yet costs almost the same as full-size after optional equipment is added to make it an even match. So there must be more profit in the well-equipped smaller truck.
There is approximately a $10k difference between equally equiped trucks.
GM needs to bring both this truck and the s-10 back to the states. It would cover all segments in from compact through full size and give buyers more options since they have taken away most of the car segment
The S10 is here, it is called the Colorado.
The old S-10 they made before the Colorado, was a completely different truck . . .MUCH SMALLER. It used to be the size truck that GM should be building now. Lots of buyers NEED a full size truck, other people can easily get by with a smaller vehicle. Witness the sales of Ford’s Maverick truck = they can’t make them fast enough. That’s why GM should import a smaller pickup that is already being made elsewhere.
The bed storage is super well designed. I hope all companies copy this.
