The 2023 Buick Enclave represents the sixth model year of the second generation full-size crossover. Now, Consumer Reports has given the 2023 Buick Enclave a “recommended” rating, marking the first time the Enclave has received such recognition.
This “recommended” rating is the result of the following scores:
- Road test rating – 82/100
- Owner satisfaction rating – 3/5
- Predicated reliability rating – 3/5
These three sections result in an overall score of 76 points out of a maximum 100.
For the performance section, CR gave the Buick Enclave a 5/5 for transmission and braking, a 4/5 for acceleration, and a 3/5 for emergency handling. CR noted that the crossover offers a comfortable and relaxing ride, with very responsive handling given the Enclave’s size.
In regards to Owner Satisfaction, owners rank the driving experience as 82/100, comfort as 88/100, and value at 47/100.
When it comes to reliability, the Enclave received a score of 52/100. This makes the Enclave the second-most reliable vehicle in its class according to CR, losing only to the BMW X7, which scored a 57/100. Notably, the Enclave beat out the likes of the Lincoln Navigator, Infiniti QX80 and Mercedes-Benz GLS with scores of 42/100, 32/100, and 23/100, respectively.
As a whole, GM performed well in CR’s latest rankings. The Buick Enclave was joined by the C8 Corvette, Chevy Blazer, Chevy Trailblazer, Chevy Equinox, and Chevy Traverse in receiving a “recommended” rating.
As a reminder, the 2023 Buick Enclave is powered by the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This output is routed to the ground through the GM 9-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard while AWD is optional.
Under the skin, the Enclave rides on the long wheelbase version of the GM C1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. The 2023 model year started production on June 11th, 2022.

That’s good for the Enclave. For an SUV, that is a very attractive vehicle.
In past articles when I was critical of GM for not paying attention to Consumer Reports reliability ratings, the followers of this site said CR was biased garbage. Guess it is all good now eh?
Patrick: I can’t speak for others, but I have been 100% consistent on here (anywhere) when it comes to CR. To recap what I’ve said in the past:
I don’t trust CR and they can’t even get basic reporting correct. That leads to my distrust in the entire CR system. They are certainly a bias source, but a source they still are. I have not used CR in the (sales side) past if it wasn’t to my advantage, but I’ve used them when it was. I believe their testing methods leave a lot of room for non-bias improvement.
Thus, as I said above, this is good for the Enclave. Would I base my purchase decisions off what they say? No.
On my 5th Enclave since 2009 including a 2019 Avenir and now driving a 2022 Avenir. They have all been 2-wheel front drive and all have had the trailer towing package. I have had no issues up to 50K miles when I have traded them in on a new one. Highly recommend them. GM has improved them every year. Might get one more in 2025 or 2026 depending on how they evolve. I do not want an electric Enclave but that is the way Buick is heading. My $0.02
We own an 2019 Enclave it’s an excellent attractive vehicle good job GM. In fact we took this over a 2017 traverse LTZ.
Own the 2018 Enclave Essence and now driving the 2021 Enclave Essence so far no problems, very reliable and sleet looking.
Now just waiting on the 2024 Enclave Essence to arrive let face it i’m a GM person forever!
Big C we have owned six GM vehicles so far over twenty years each was an excellent reliable vehicle…. Yes each car has it’s Minor issues but never left me stranded… Would I buy GM AGAIN HELL YEAH!
