There Will Be A 2024 Cadillac XT5 In North America

The next generation of the Cadillac XT5 will be offered in China only, as per GM Authority coverage in November. Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that the XT5 will be departing from American shores just yet, as sources tell us that there will be a 2024 Cadillac XT5 in North America.
GM Authority has exclusively learned that the XT5 will continue another model year for 2024. However, it must be noted that this 2024 XT5 will be a carryover from the 2023 XT5, not the next-gen XT5 destined for China.
Speaking of the Chinese-market XT5, GM President Mark Reuss explained why the next generation of the Cadillac crossover isn’t coming to North America.
“This is for China only, as we move Cadillac in the United States to an all-electric brand,” Reuss said. “The XT5 is still a very high-volume segment in China, and we’re going to do that with a new design language interpretation, both inside and out.”
Meanwhile, the current 2023 Cadillac XT5 offered in the U.S. market soldiers on with minimal changes compared to the preceding 2022 model year. It received three new paint colors, while the Bose Performance 14-speaker stereo, embedded navigation and ambient lighting became standard on the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels.
Under the hood, the XT5 is currently available in the U.S. with one of two engine options, including turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, which develops 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Both engines connect to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, and either a front-wheel or an all-wheel drivetrain.
As for structure, the XT5 rides on the GM C1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Will it be the last year of the US spec XT5? At least I don’t want them to raise the price. This is the 7th year since the launch of the XT5.
This really unfortunate…First the CT6 become a Chinese only car and now the XT5. I currently have one of each and love them both. When the leases are up I will have to buy both cars or switch brands after more than 42 years. Its too bad Cadillac is walking away from its Traditional customer. I hope its not a fatal mistake, but based on the Cadillac’s current product portfolio and the near future products, I would not bet on Cadillac’s long term success. Sorry Mr. Reuss, I think you’re making a BIG mistake.
GM better get out of China before the war with Russia ,North Korea, and China.
China is their biggest market. Maybe they should leave here instead?
Looks like my wife and I will be switching to another Luxury Brand.
You can easily just get a XT6 or XT4
Ruess ,Mary and the rest of you Brain dead thinking Morons ,, if you think you are going to be successful with that plan , you better rethink that , the ,Cadillac division will not survive on that theory of EV only . What a shame GM lately is not listening to it’s customers .. Just like in baseball strike one, you took Oldsmobile from me (14 of them) ,strike two you are removing the best selling model XT5 ( 3 of them I own) ) from me and then from the American market and provide it to the communist, strike three you are going to shove this EV crape on us YOUR DONE
They’d be doing Cadillac justice if they sold it off to a massive foreign conglomerate. The Chinese would run it better than this.
It is a shame.. Electrical charging for the most part is quite a ways off. Slow chargers chargers don’t work few high speed chargers. And where is all this electricity going to come from It is not without its faults also in adding to pollution
I know GM will never do this in a Million years but they and other Automakers in NA should and do so ASAP actually……..They should all switch to the Tesla Charger Connector and do so ASAP. By doing so they are providing their Customers with by far the absolute best Charging infrastructure in the America and it is not even close.
By switching over you also will basically be telling Electrify America, EVGo and others to strictly start building out the NACS ports and get away from the Awful and Bulky AF CCS connectors.
Tesla NACS is plug and go and works 99% of the times.
CCS is beyond stupid and it is not too late here in America to pivot away from the CCS Standard and into Tesla NACS Chargers.
What’s up with the front door handle it’s to low and it’s throwing the lines off balance
Cadillac just isn’t relevant. I thought the “art and science” BS was the death of the brand….but it’s ended up being the total apathy that the company has for its North American dealership network. The amount of nonsense they’ve put up with over the years and now this.
I didn’t care for it, but the XT5 was one of the few models that they had that actually sold. It was cheap and aging, but a redesign would have fixed that.
They have been begging for a 3 row crossover, and Cadillac gave them an extended version of the old XT5 and called it the XT6. Lame effort.
And now they have to deal with the Lyriq….which features a disappointing max range, polarizing styling, and no stand out features at all. And for that they have to spend a small fortune to upgrade their dealership space.
I’ve owned several Cadillacs and up to this point been mostly happy. However, latest news GM supplying China (only) with the XT5.. I will be switching brands and looking for alternatives and GM won’t be one of them. My entire family is boycotting GM … It’s a sad day when an American Company goes woke and turns its back on the Country that built them.
People listen up Going Electric is like buying your children battery operated toys for Christmas and telling them they will have to wait until next Christmas for the Batteries. Until our infrastructure drastically improves, this is disaster. We can’t keep up with demand without EV’s …. This is nothing more than insanity
Mark and Mary, are you all TRYING to kill GM and Cadillac? Name one ICE Luxury-branded automaker that is going all-into EV. None. Not Benz, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Jaguar….not Lincoln. They are all EVENUTALLY going to EV, HEDGED by parallel ICE/EV for x number of years. Mercedes with mirrored EVs of their lineup, Lincoln (Ford)’s EVs for some models and Toyota refining its hybrids- all smart approaches. Unless you all have the tenacity, work ethic and brainpower of Elon Musk (which you don’t), then there’s no reason to dive headfirst. And don’t get me started on a China-first model approach. Where’s our CT6 replacement??
That’s to bad owned a gm since been driving for 42 years. I own a 2020 xt5 but now that there sending the new gen to china I guess I have to jump ship shame on gm
This decision to me makes no sense. GM says they won’t be selling the next generation model of their most successful vehicle to switch to all electric, yet continues to sell a 2024 version (which is still gas powered) that is just slightly updated. I get wanting to move to all electric, however what’s point of this decision if you’re still manufacturing and selling the same gas vehicle.
I, like others will be switching to the Lexus RX350 instead of buying another XT5. GM has lost its focus on building what the customer wants. The head of Toyota just made a speech last week that his company will build some electric vehicles but will keep building vehicles that the customer likes and want with gas engines. Sorry, GM you have forever lost me as a customer.
As the owner of an XT5 I hate to hear that, best mid-size cross over I’ve driven, hopefully they’ll rethink
that decision and keep it around in the USA also!
Cadillac should rethink their policy immediately about going all electric! You will be facing a rebellion from your loyal customers and you will not recover from it!Please don’t force these electric vehicles down our throat!
