The 2023 Cadillac XT5 represents the seventh model year of the first-generation luxury compact crossover. Soldiering on relatively unchanged compared to the 2022 model, today we’re taking a look at 2023 Cadillac XT5 towing capacities.
Before we begin, let’s review the powertrain options. Under the hood reside two engine options, the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine. The LSY I4 engine develops 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the LGX V6 engine produces 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of engine choice, every XT5 is equipped with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission as standard, while buyers can choose between FWD and AWD configurations.
It’s also worth noting that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 is available with the optional Smart Towing Package, which increases the luxury crossover’s max trailer weight rating. Identified by RPO code V92, this trailering package includes Hitch Guidance (RPO CTT), Hitch Guidance with Hitch View (RPO PZ8), a hitch, a Hitch cover and seven-wire harness, a 170-amp alternator (RPO KW7, optional on Premium Luxury, standard on Sport), and a Heavy-duty cooling system (RPO V08, optional on Premium Luxury, standard on Sport).
With that out of the way, here are the 2023 Cadillac XT5 towing capacities:

The towing figures don’t change depending on trim level, drivetrain configuration, or powerplant choice. However, towing numbers do increase with the addition of the V92 towing package, up to a maximum trailer weight of 3,500 pounds. Without this trailering package, maximum weight sits at 1,000 pounds.
As a quick reminder, GM is planning a next-generation Cadillac XT5, but it will be exclusive to the Chinese market. However, the North American market will be getting a 2024 model-year XT5. The 2023 Cadillac XT5 rides on the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

What good is a thousand pound trailer limit. Jet ski and trailer weighs more than that. My equinox with the 2.0 can trailer 3,500. I realize the XT5 weighs more but they need to tune the motor to be able to tow more.
