The 2023 GMC Canyon is set to introduce an all-new, third-generation of the mid-size pickup truck. Debuting a number of upgrades and changes over the preceding generation, today we’re taking a closer look at all eight of the available 2023 Canyon paint colors.
Of the eight exterior paint jobs, only Summit White is available at no extra charge. The other seven paint hues are available for an extra $495.
The eight exterior paint colors offered for the 2023 GMC Canyon include (relevant paint code listed in parentheses):
- Deep Bronze Metallic (GXN)
- Desert Sand Metallic (GTL)
- Dynamic Blue Metallic (GLT)
- Onyx Black (GBA)
- Solar Flare Metallic (GCP)
- Sterling Metallic (GXD)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
The all-new 2023 GMC Canyon introduces changes and updates throughout. On the exterior, this means revised styling, along with new dimensions that are wider and taller, in addition to shorter overhangs and a more aggressive appearance. LED exterior lighting is offered as well.
Moving onto the interior, the cabin design is completely overhauled, with a standard eight-inch digital instrument cluster for Elevation and AT4 trim levels, and an 11-inch cluster for the Denali and AT4X trims. Onboard tech features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, while the Pro Safety Package is equipped as standard. This package includes a long list of safety features, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking with Bicyclist Detection, IntelliBeam auto high beams, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert.
Under the hood, only the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine is available for the all-new Canyon. Unlike the 2023 Chevy Colorado, which receives three different tunes of the 2.7L engine, the 2023 Canyon is only available with the top 2.7L Turbo High Output tune, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
As for the transmission choice, GM has decided to offer a revised eight-speed automatic, the same one found in the 2023 Chevy Colorado. Meanwhile, The Canyon rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform used by the previous generation, with production set to commence on January 25th, 2023 at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Cacti Green on the new Trax would look great on the Canyon / Colorado. Some interesting colors, but overall the Ranger has a better pallet since its shares most with the Bronco.
Agree with the comment about the Ranger colors, I really wish GM would do some non-metallic colors.
Dynamic Blue Metallic is the perfect blue!
I hope they keep it around for a long time.
love that color Blue, Keep it around GM please.
Red for me
Anyone have any idea why the 11 inch digital instrument cluster is not an option on the Elevation and AT4? The dash has a lot of empty space with the 8 inch and appears to have less display capabilities (no side by side views). I’d pay for it if it was an option.
It makes any color look good. But red and white are my faves.
Wasn’t it Henry Ford who said “You can have any GMC Canyon you want, as long as it’s white”?
One correction, at least according to the configurator, Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT) is an extra $645 instead of $495 for the rest of the non-white colors. But really who’s counting, at $66K+ what’s another $150? I’m still choosing red.
I just configured a Denali pretty much loaded and the price was $54,490. Where do you come up with $66K+? My Ram Limited with pretty much the same options comes out to almost $90K. I love it and it’s the best truck I’ve ever owned. Will be VERY CURIOUS as the reviews when get out and test driven.
It would be interesting to learn if the GM truck’s competitors are also price-gouging on their truck for any color but basic White ?
Wish they had a plain gloss red. Even the Chevy is missing that option.
Why don’t they just say “Paint available at an extra charge?
What about interior colors? Outlaw all
shades of black. Even with a color it’s dark ash, dark brown but with black dash, door trim and steering wheels. Tired of only seeing black.
I want 2 tones
Onyx Black is the standard, plain, non-metallic black that’s been a GM standby for years. Why TF is it an extra-cost option???
At one time airlines did not charge for baggage fees. Some colors the paint manufactures will charge extra. Also the paint manufactures want a minimum order or the price goes up. But wait, there is more, paint is now an OPTION, therefore it does not impact the MSRP.
Colors, ya… how about an Extreme pkg? Remember those?
