GM’s 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition Launches In China

SAIC-GM-Wuling, General Motors’ second joint venture in China, recently launched the new 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition as a new themed version of the zero-emission mini car in the Asian country.

The 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition is a limited-run variant based on the animated character Lotso from Disney Pixar’s popular Toy Story movie series, which SGMW co-developed with the entertainment giant. As such, the new KiWi EV Lotso Edition was specially designed to attract female customers, which is the main group of buyers of this electric vehicle in China.

Just like the Disney character, the body of the 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition features various shades of pink, including a light shade that serves as the base color, combined with strawberry patters across the lower body section, as well as a contrasting darker shade for the mirrors and various moldings around the vehicle. It features the Toy Story logo, the bear’s hand holding one of the strawberries, and the name Lotso on the lower door trim.

For its part, the 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition’s cabin receives the most extreme dose of customization, with countless elements painted in Strawberry Bear color. This includes two-tone leather upholstery for the seats and the steering wheel, the floor completely lined with the same decorated material, and a headliner in the same shade of pink. As if that weren’t enough, the dash and door panels feature prints of strawberries, flowers and Lotso‘s face.

Although not specified by the manufacturer, the 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition is equipped with a rear electric motor generating 54 horsepower (40 kW) and 111 pound-feet (150 Nm) of torque, paired with a single-speed transmission. The available battery pack in the KiWi EV offers a range of up to 305 km (approximately 190 miles) and a DC fast charging feature that fully recharges the vehicle in one hour.

The 2023 Baojun KiWi EV Lotso Edition was launched via local sales platform in China with a limited number of units – fortunately. Limited editions with thematic motifs such as this KiWi EV Lotso Edition are usually developed in the Chinese market to satisfy the particular customization demands of customers in the country, particularly focused on a female audience and families with small children.

  1. This can be sold in America easily, since some of the Asian gas cars are that small or smaller but are not a U.S. brand nor electric. And with this small EV, parking will be easier. You can even bring it indoors.

  5. To attract female buyers I hope the leather is vegan. Why do the Chinese have to get everything? If you want an EV elsewhere prepare to splurge big, while some may just want a small easy-to-park highway-capable and reasonably safe EV to get around, not an SUV or supercomputer Tesla.
