GM Financial has filed to trademark “keys” for use in a new online educational service, GM Authority has learned.
Filed on November 17th, 2022 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the application carries a Goods and Services description that reads, “Educational services, namely, conducting online classes, seminars, conferences, workshops in the field of basics of budgeting for and obtaining vehicle financing, including money management, credit scoring, purchase options and dealership experience and distribution of course materials in connection therewith in printed or electronic format.”
The trademark includes a description of the keys logo, which incorporates lowercase lettering, blue letter coloring, and a blue circle around the letter “s” with two green lines added the top and bottom, making it look a bit like a dollar symbol.
Apparently, the keys trademark will be used in conjunction with a new educational service from GM Financial aimed at providing GM customers with basic financial literacy, likely aimed at helping customers make the right decision when it comes time to purchase or lease a new vehicle. Given the description, it appears as though the educational services will be available both online in a digital electronic format, as well as a printed format.
The trademark follows an announcement made in September wherein GM made a commitment to support the Financial Literacy for All (FL4A) initiative, a national effort aimed at reaching millions of youth and working adults to provide the tools and life experience needed to make sound financial decisions, as well as provide greater wellbeing for themselves, their families, and their communities. FL4A is supported by several major corporations, including Walmart Disney, the NFL, the NBA, Bank of America, among others.
Over the summer, GM launched a separate virtual learning resource called EV Live, which provides users with access to EV specialists and information on EV ownership and technology, including public and private charging, sustainability, battery technology, and more.

Maybe the people attempting to run Gm should look into these courses offered by GM.
Why? GM is doing well, they are making money. However this is something that should be requied in school instead of foreign lanquage or Art/Music.
I agree with teaching personal finance, but not how to go into debt to buy a new car.
If you own stock in GM you are NOT making money. You have lost 44% in in the last nine months. Unless you shorted the stock. In that point great for you.
Why all the thumbs down? One, innovation and trying new ideas is the only way really to success. And in the game of business, ( or staying in business) you have to get in the front and take the lead or your get lost in the dust with the has-beens. They don’t even teach our children how to write in cursive, or learn calligraphy. My teenagers still are perplexed about that topic and can’t even legibly read it!
Mrs Wallace, This isn’t a new innovation. I don’t to be hit in the head with a hammer to know how it feels. This is Gm acting like they care when you submit to buying a mortgage/Gm vehicle. And if you don’t know by now what you can & can’t afford that is on you. We need ditch diggers as well. This might be abrasive, but I’m full of people telling me how to help kids. The only way to help kids is to put them in your own care and teach them your syllabus/right & wrong or one you have thoroughly vetted and place them in someone else’s care. It’s that simple. If you’re looking for a baby sister, the government has plenty of handouts.
God-speed
