Ford Mustang Takes Out C7 Corvette During Street Race: Video

A Ford Mustang and C7 Corvette were recently caught on a dash camera street racing, causing a huge accident that resulted in at least one person transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
In the video (embedded below), we see an S550-generation Mustang race a yellow C7 Corvette race at high speeds on an interstate near Lewisville, Texas. While racing, the Mustang struck another vehicle at a high speed, causing the Ford and the another vehicle to crash into the accompanying Chevy Corvette, sending the C7 barreling into the median guard rail. Though we don’t have confirmation of this, we don’t imagine any of the vehicles involved to not be totaled after the incident.
Local authorities have stated that the Mustang driver was intoxicated when he struck the third vehicle, and that the resultant crash critically injured the passenger in the Corvette. This should come as no surprise, since the severity of the crash had pieces of all three vehicles scattered across the entire interstate.
Unfortunately, Corvettes seem to be the involved in accidents more often than not. Recently, GM Authority reported on another C7 Corvette involved in a severe accident. That time, the entire engine was ripped from the engine bay, and thrown across the highway after the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck several other drivers. As if that wasn’t enough, it also appears that a subframe and a wheel were forcibly separated from the Vette. Amazingly, the driver of that C7 managed to walk away from the crash while sustaining only minor injuries, a testament to modern vehicle safety.
This should be a given, but as a reminder, don’t race on public roads. Instead, leave the high speed antics for the track. It’s simply not worth risking your life or the lives of others for a short-term thrill.

If you want to run ’em, head to the track. As the owner of several late model GM performance vehicles, this gives all of us car aficionados a bad name. Lock them up for a few years and suspend their licenses for a few years too.
Foolishness…
Hard to deny you were speeding when the debris field is a 1/4 mile in length.
They always think it will never happen to them. Their reflexes are too good. Then they take other’s lives.

These two deserved to die after putting innocent drivers at risk.
Your “don’t race on public roads” advice seems pretty false, since GM Authority keeps reporting on road racers! You promote, then condemn! You are part of the problem. Please stop giving these fools publicity!
My thoughts exactly !!!
That’s a ridiculous observation, the publicity is showing how foolish they are! You think that crash or any crash is going to cause someone to start speeding or racing on the highway? That’s like saying education has no place in our society when it comes to improving the public’s behavior.
Just as with drunk driving, if we really want to be serious about clamping down on these anti-social activities, you need hard jail time for the perps involved. Think a minimum 10 years, no parole would be a wake up call?
A. After reading about this situation on several other sites, the Mustang driver was absolutely hammered according to BAC testing from the Police.
B. A minimum 10 year prison sentence for these miscreants would be nice, but many DA’s across the country are releasing VIOLENT felons on ridiculously small bonds. Keep in mind that many of these felons are habitual offenders. If degenerates are only being held for ~24 hours after being arrested for aggravated assault and attempted murder, these wanna be professional racers are getting off even easier than that.
Earth is truly in a mess. 🙁
They had to be doing over 100 mph because he was doing 83 mph! What a waste!
This will never end as long as high paid lawyers get hired to defend these idiots. Them that has, gets.
I’ve waved off many potential street races, too damn dangerous with old folks driving on the same streets. To dangerous!
Motorcycles are another story… weak when it comes to waving them off when they do a cocky drive by. I am gaining mental strength though…
I just envision me standing in the kitchen trying to explain my excuse for crashing my Camaro to the family….no way.
Did the driver who was recording at least stop to render aid.
If he did, someone would probably shoot him. You have to be crazy to stop in the dark.
The bad thing is. So many stolen cars.. you may stop in the dark to find out…someone wants away from the wreck and the stolen car…they won’t even stop to think about jacking you. So they don’t go to jail.
Everyone keeps saying “Take it to the TRACK!” But on car people and governing bodies keep letting people build houses near the tracks, then close them when home owners complain about the noise. I say “ Don’t close the playgrounds then complain about the kids playing in the street!”.
