Chevy Trailblazer Among Best Vehicles To Fit Three Child Car Seats

Finding a vehicle that suits your needs and the needs of your family can be a challenge, especially if you have several kids. For example, some parents may struggle to fit three child seats across the rear bench, but thankfully, the Chevy Trailblazer was recently identified as one vehicle that makes that exact task a little bit easier.

Per testing from Consumer Reports, the Chevy Trailblazer was highlighted as one of 33 vehicles well-suited to fit three child seats across the second-row bench seat. The Buick Envision was also part of the list. Child seat accommodation is part of the broader Consumer Reports vehicle testing, with the organization assessing vehicles by fitting a rear-facing-only infant seat in the center of the second-row bench, plus a forward-facing convertible seat and high-back belt positioning booster seat for the two outboard positions.

The test revealed which vehicles most easily fit three child seats across the rear bench, including the Chevy Trailblazer. In addition, the test revealed some important factors for buyers to consider when choosing their next vehicle. Seat width, for example, is obviously important for those that need to fit three child seats on the rear bench, but as Consumer Reports points out, larger vehicles do not necessarily offer wider seats, and as such, exterior dimensions alone should not be considered a critical determining factor.

Consumer Reports also states that flat seats without bolstering or contours may make it much easier to install child seats. Securely installing a child seat includes mounting it flush against the seatback and seat cushion, which means heavy bolstering or contours may make the task more difficult. With regard to seat mounting, hardware positioning is also important, especially with regard to the center seat hardware, while hardware that doesn’t overlap between the different seating positions may be helpful as well.

It’s recommended that customers bring their car seats with them to test fit while car shopping, while local car seat technicians and car seat inspection stations may also prove useful.

As a reminder, the Chevy Trailblazer is offered with two engine options, including the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine and turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine. Under the skin is the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while production for the North American market takes place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

  1. This is great news… But here comes the hater comments about the Trailblazer…I will admit I wish there was a four cylinder option but if you don’t like it then don’t buy it.

    1. People don’t buy it, as evidenced by it’s market share 😂🤣 And if you’ve got three children in car seats and a Chevy Trailblazer as a primary vehicle the you’ve made some mistakes somewhere in that decision making process.

      1. Hacksaw… Did you ever stop to think before you go and JUDGE PEOPLE… That this all they can afford! Not everyone makes $60,000 to 100,000 dollars a year and can afford a full size SUV or even a midsize for that matter… How about me I am still running my 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ V6 so far it’s got 114,000 miles it and it runs excellent but you know what two things I love most about it? It’s AMERICAN and it’s paid off! But whatever you think what you want it’s a free country.

        1. The 2010 Equinox was actually made in Canada, so it is technically “North American”. Some 2nd Gen Equinoxes were assembled in the United States between 2013-2015. I have a 2015 Equinox V6, made at the plant in Canada.

          1. Anonymous yes your 100 percent right but the 2010 Equinox was still made by union workers and technically it’s North American “Made in Canada” my 2002 Camaro Z28 was made in Canada one of the best cars I ever owned!

            1. The ‘Nox is a venerable vehicle, with many North American components. It’s also larger and better suited for families than the TB. I never said you have to buy an expensive car. The TB is just hot garbage.

I have an entry level vehicle manufactured in North America by Union laborers, I love my sonic. Again, the TB, has currently offered, is hot garbage. That’s all, and not a car you want to consider. If you have to put three child seats in your car every day, that’s not a selling point.

    1. LMAO… A Chevy Sonic haha you know it’s a KOREAN DESIGNED CAR right just like the TB!? So basically your bashing your car in a way… Also I think your just upset that the Trailblazer doesn’t have off road shocks and all terrain tires… Either that or your a holdout for the next pile of garbage Soinc if Chevy even bothers to build one. In fact it sounds to me like your a Troll on this website… Every single new vehicle that GM shows us you have nothing but negative things to say about it… As a current Chevy/GM owner one would think that you would buy another GM product and support America. Instead all you do is TROLL this website why don’t you find something better to do like test drive a Trailblazer I know people who own them and they love their CUV… this is a nice cheap little CUV thats affordable and offers AWD… that’s enough for some people… Apparently not enough for you h4cksaw.

      1. I agree with most everything you said about the Trailblazer it just needs a bigger engine.

      2. The sonic was union made in the United States. The motor was designed in Europe and manufactured in the United States. Opposed to the sh*tbox TB motor designed in Shanghai, and henco en Mexico by exploited labor. I have no qualms with the Vss-f platform, it actually feels quite composed, although I do wish it was made in the United States.. You clearly have no idea how to actual support United States engineer and manufacturing… Utterly pathetic company shill. That’s all the time I’ll waste educating you.

  3. Oh no I don’t support America no not me… That’s why EIGHT out of my ten cars where AMERICAN made i have owned GM’s, two dodges, an eagle, four Chevy’s, one Pontiac, the only Japanese car I ever owned was a 2015 Mazda which I didn’t like after three years and 95,000 miles it fell apart. But anyway our current car is an Equinox and a 2019 Buick Enclave…. So I do support an American company by buying their vehicles and supporting union workers I have often contemplated buying a Chevy or Ford made in china or Mexico but I am not just going to let that stop me from buying the car I want. Get used to it this is called the global supply chain nothing is pure American anymore… Not even your uneducated self.

  4. I currently have a 2023 chevy trailblazer.. LOVE it.. although we can’t fit 3 carseats straight across.. not even the slim Diono carseats . Rear hip room is only 45.7inches. Baby #3 coming soon & we have only had this vehicle 7 months.. 😔
