Another 2024 Corvette Stingray Powertrain Mule Spotted

GM Authority spy photographers have caught another 2024 Corvette C8 Stingray mule out and about in public, providing yet further proof that the C8 Stingray is poised to introduce a powertrain update, as GM Authority exclusively reported previously.
For those readers who may have missed it, GM Authority reported yesterday that Chevy is planning to bump the C8 Stingray’s output to north of 500 horsepower, as indicated by company insiders. Yesterday’s report follows GM Authority photos published earlier this month that capture a 2024 Corvette Stingray mule with an odd-looking exhaust treatment incorporating a pair of thin, long, outboard pipes sticking out from the sports car’s rear bumper. Now, spies have captured another 2024 Corvette C8 Stingray with the same exhaust treatment, confirming that the original catch earlier this month wasn’t a mere one-off.
So then, what exactly are those weird, thin exhaust pipes? By all accounts, they seem to be EPA certification exhaust tips, thus indicating that the Corvette Stingray is poised powertrain changes that would impact the sports car’s emissions. And that coincides with recent intel that Chevy was poised to give the Stingray a power bump to eclipse the 500-horsepower mark.
For those readers who may be unaware, the C8 Corvette Stingray made its formal introduction for the 2020 model year, dropping in with the mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine behind the cabin. Since launch, the C8’s LT2 has been rated at 490 horsepower at 6,450 rpm and 465 pound-feet of torque at 5,150 rpm, while the addition of the optional dual-mode performance exhaust system (RPO code NPP) increases power ratings to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
For the moment, it’s believed that the upcoming power bump to more than 500 ponies will arrive for the 2024 model year. The 2024 Corvette will introduce several other updates too, including updates for the Stingray, as well as other C8 model variants.

That’s an export C8 undergoing emission testing since Europe has adopted new standards which requires recertification. Why is GMA claiming these pictures confirm a hp increase for 24 models when there hasn’t been any mention of it from GM?
Because it fits GMA’s speculative reporting.
I’m still trying to warm up to the C8 body style. The third picture exemplifies the Camaro heritage that I cannot get past. The taillights and rear fascia are too much Camaro and need to be unique to Corvette.

The new tail lights are more functional. Round was great in the day. Technology continues to advance our driving enjoyment.
You are forgetting that the C7 had taillights that is no longer round from the C6 also. With advancements with design for each model cycle, taillights and headlights need to evolve to stay relevant.
My C8 was built on the 20/12/2022 , which means delivery in February and that makes me happy, but, I would of been interested in the HP bump up. Hope GM will offer some kind of tuning , by them, soon.
My C8 Red Mist Convertible was built on 8/22/2022, and I’m completely happy with the horsepower. I agree more horsepower is better, but I have no complaints, when I jump on it to merge onto the freeway. And I get complements all the time on her good looks. She is a real head turner!
Generally any up or down grades to the present model configuration is done well enough in advance to satisfy government regulations and not so much just superfluous additions like a bump in horsepower or torque, while that may not may sound so exciting usually the government standards come first, so to my way of thinking this “exhaust change” has to do with decibel sound standards and or possibly some sort of tailpipe emissions checking, and certainly won’t find it’s way into any production models looking uh…”Butt Ugly” as we see in these photos. Just say’in…
Well, the upcoming Mustang is said to have 500HP plus, so maybe GM wish to eclipse that, not that they are direct competitors.
