General Motors unveiled the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax in October, pulling the sheets on a fresh-faced model for the entry-level crossover segment. Interestingly, GM President Mark Reuss has some very high praise for the new Trax, calling it one of the “finest entry-level” Chevys in many years.
The fact that GM President Reuss is praising the new 2024 Chevy Trax certainly isn’t all that surprising. That said, the level to which Reuss is praising the new crossover is definitely noteworthy.
During a presentation given at the recent GM Investor Day event, GM President Reuss unveiled the automaker’s upcoming product roadmap, while also saying the following about the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax:
“This is something we’re getting to launch here, obviously, and this about a $19,000 price point that is profitable. This is probably in my career, and maybe beyond that, the finest entry-level Chevrolet that this company, and I think the market, has seen in many years,” Reuss said.
Calling the 2024 Chevy Trax the “finest entry-level Chevrolet” in many years is high praise indeed. Reuss went on to say:
“Drove it the other day, incredibly useful, but also very youthful, it’s sort of a white space for us. It’s not really an SUV or a car, but our dealers are extremely excited about this, in high volume in that part of the market for us as an entry-level Chevrolet.”
In terms of styling, the 2024 Chevy Trax incorporates similar ICE-based design language as the Chevy Blazer crossover, with a large central grille, hard angles, and thin upper lighting. The primary headlamps are located lower in the corners of the fascia. In terms of exterior dimensions, the new Trax is also lower, longer, and wider than the previous model. Wheel sizing includes 17-, 18-, and 19-inch options.
Inside the cabin, the 2024 Chevy Trac features a variety of safety and tech features, with a standard 8-inch infotainment screen, and an 11-inch screen equipped higher in the range. Other notable features include Active Noise Cancelation and the Chevy Safety Assist tech suite.
Making the go is the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which is rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is sent to the front wheels by way of the GM six-speed automatic transmission, while under the body panels, the 2024 Chevy Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set.
The 2024 Chevy Trax will hit production in February of the 2023 calendar year, per exclusive GM Authority coverage.

Where is it made?
South Korea
Never mind. I looked it up. Mexico, South Korea, and China for their market. I guess country of origin is not news anymore. The U.S. big three never could compete successfully in the low price market since after Vega, Pinto, K-car days.
The Trax will be made for US and Canada in South Korea while the Seeker will be made also in South Korea and China for global markets. The Seeker itself could potentially be a high selling world crossover for GM, with the Trax being very popular in the US and Canada. I’m betting GM will have significant problems satisfying demand due to lingering chip issues and global supply chain problems.
Mark has trouble defining the vehicle saying it’s not a SUV or car. Seems he has forgotten about station wagons which best sums up this “MVP”.
GM dropped it’s big volume Cruze & quickly learned that they need an inexpensive big seller as entry level to attract loyalty and maintain market share. Once upon a time GM was terrible at compact. The Company’s time 8n South Korea and even China taught them a lot. And you know this is based on the experience of building GEM based cars which are pretty impressive.
But, no AWD or four wheel drive.
they say 20% opted for it on the previous gen, its not worth the extra complexity production line upgrades for 20-40 thousand vehicles a year.
Cruze replacement at a higher starting price point.
“incredibly youthful” – speak for the non car people mark! young car people like myself ARE NOT interested in FWD 1 liter 3 cylinders.
crappy engine, crappy transmission, and rides like it has wooden wheels- typical gm junk
The engine works fine in real world driving. Also, GM, Mazda and other manufacturers continued use of six speed transmissions is not a problem. The fact that there has been virtually zero mileage improvement with 8, 9 and 10 speed automatics over six speeds demonstrates that all we ever needed was six speeds. More than six gears are not needed at all now with these modern turbo engines with very flat torque curves.
My wife’s Equinox with the 1.5 and six speed works very well. The improvement from the 2.4 in the last generation Nox to the 1.5 in the current one is huge. The new powertrain is quicker, pulls far better from low RPM’s and is far quieter.
You’ve gotta feel bad for the guy. I can’t imagine trying to put a positive spin on a tiny car with a tiny engine.
Do you and your fellow commentators who constantly complain about GM’s small turbo engine have small hands?
You and many on this site seem to think every vehicle in every category should have a huge engine. Maybe you should actually drive one to see how well these modern small turbos from GM and many other manufacturers perform in the real world. I rented a Trailblazer recently and was very impressed in every way. The Trailblazer had good acceleration and had an excellent interior for the price point.
A very nice sleek level entry cross over should do well
So does this trax have the same problems as previous years and if so will gm put out a recall or will they make the buyer spend thousands of dollars on several possible fixes? My 2019 has had three parts replaced and so far the issue isn’t resolved
Very nice little station wagon… I have said this before and I will say it again… Not everyone needs 300HP and AWD or 4WD some people don’t drive in the winter… School teachers are often home when it snows my wife is a career counselor and when it snows she’s usually home with her AWD Buick Enclave sitting in the driveway covered in snow I clean it off for her, or there are people who live in states where it does now snow and do not need AWD! I am 43 years old and six of my cars where either front or rear wheel drive i live in the northeast and I drove everyone of them in the snow… AWD while useful on my Equinox is also just cleaver marketing because AWD or not a car needs good tires and a decent weight as well as a good driver to drive through snow or even heavy rain.
Nice. Something I would consider. But the last time I went to a dealership with my nephew to buy a trailblazer we were asked to pay a markup of $5,000. They refuse to bargain. So how much of a premium are gym customers going to have to pay for this one. He ended up getting the Volkswagen and traded in his Chevrolet SUV. Way to go general motors.
Roel that’s not GM marking up the vehicle that’s The dealership they are all crooks they mark up everything it’s not fair they make the company look bad! 🤯
