2024 Chevy Trax Activ: First Real-World Pictures

The all-new 2024 Chevy Trax was official unveiled back in October 2022. As the first model year of the all-new second generation, the 2024 Trax brings a bevy of transformations, including a brand-new exterior and interior, along with a new architecture and powertrain. Now, we’re getting our first look at the 2024 Chevy Trax Activ in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.

This particular example is finished in Summit While paint (color code GAZ). As we mentioned above, it’s outfitted in the Activ trim level, which serves as the range-topping trim.

As a reminder, here’s the 2024 Chevy Trax trim level hierarchy:

  • LS
  • 1RS
  • LT
  • 2RS
  • ACTIV

Up front, the new Trax gets LED signature daytime running lights (RPO code T7E) and LED headlamps (T4L) in the dual-layer headlight arrangement found on other recently-introduced Chevy crossovers such as the Blazer and Trailblazer crossovers, along with the refreshed Traverse. Additionally, the a body-color grille insert that’s unique to the Activ trim, along with front and rear fascia inserts (VEV), as well a black Chevy Bow Tie front-and-center.

Moving over to the side, we see high gloss black mirror caps (EWE) and black roof rails (V59), as well as body-colored door handles. As for rollers, this Trax is rocking 18-inch Black-painted aluminum wheels (RSZ), which are wrapped in 225/55R18 all-season tires (QAI).

Out back, the exhaust tip has been tucked under the rear so as not to be visible. Additionally, we see another black Bow Tie, taillights with horizontal spears, faux vents below said taillights, a chrome rear bumper and a roof-mounted antenna.

In case you missed it, the 2024 Chevy Trax represents the beginning of an all-new, second generation for the subcompact crossover. The latest Trax boasts a longer, lower and wider exterior than the preceding model, resulting in three additional inches of rear legroom and a 12 percent increase in cargo capacity.

On the technology front, LS and 1RS trim levels get an eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen as standard, while LT, 2RS, and Activ trims receive an 11-inch screen. Furthermore, the 2024 Trax is granted with other goodies like Active Noise Cancelation and cruise control. Adaptive Cruise Control is offered on most trims, including the Activ.

Under the hood, all models of the 2024 Chevy Trax are powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which churns out at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is directed through the GM six-speed automatic transmission and put to the ground exclusively through the front wheels, as no AWD option will be offered.

As for structure, the 2024 Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, which it shares with the similarly-positioned Chevy Trailblazer. The Trax is set to go on sale during in the spring of the 2023 calendar year.

  2. I’m not in the market for this vehicle, but I can certainly see the value. Judging from what we have, I think gm did an excellent job.

  3. Cadillac-esque taillights aren’t fooling anyone. This vehicle will be near the very basement of the class when released with the quoted specs. Every other manufacturer in this segment offers either a 4 cylinder, DCT, or combination of the two. Lowercase gm will continue falling even more behind with this poorly specd vic. 1 in 4 vehicles sold in the United States is from the b/c segment, might be worth making a vehicle that people actually want and not just settle for.

    1. Seriously dude. Get a life and go troll some other site. Nobody on here likes you and I personally find it pathetic that you feel the need to come onto a GM based site to just bash them. That would be the same as if I kept going to a Honda or Toyota site and constantly bashed them. I don’t like Japanese brands, but I at least have some civility and stay away from their fan-boy sites.

      1. Freedom of speech is still legal in the United States, no? I have no bias towards brands regardless of where they are made, so long as it’s a good product. This does not seem like a good product. It’s literally worse specd than the Trailblazer, which struggles to remain competitive in sales.

This is a segment I am passionate about, so I will continue to voice my opinions openly. You can call it trolling if you want, but it’s just how I genuinely feel about the gm offerings in the segment right now. Nobody is forcing you to respond or read my posts.

          1. GMAuthority most readers have bad Taste, do them Paradoxically disliking what I like
          2. GM recently, mean most 10 years now and most Car Industries have a lot of bad Tastes Designers, who do not do the “good design” styling but they have the jobs, because #3
          3. Management is equally bad, but they still continue well paid, with some US$ 10 Millions

As for example of car presented, those forms are not at all connected, seems a car graffiti, mainly the rear lamp form, boomerangs strong strokes but without elegance, like graffiti on walls young like most, maybe GM wants to sell to new generations, those ghetto modern with a hood over his head, a beard and clumsy dark clothes, this is not me, like design elegance good draw things, in which cars todays are not the case. At End, do not need others Blog readers imposing their opinions to me, and will continue to have strong character unique for not a personal change, really do not know why they lose energy clicking on button, do not mind how many dislikes get, means nothing, we are on democracy, each own opinion, 🚗

Like me too, f*** hell those likes but express also what think ugly, and this case is a 1000 % ugly product which wasted material, they had chance and invested huge money in drawing a thing, which instead could have been beautiful, but they preferred the hateful Tracks, it is more ridiculous who gonna buy such a uglier

              1. out of curiosity what do you consider a great or beautiful vehicle?

                1. well the volumes and lines must be correct .. As designer appreciate a 1930 Packard, a Talbot, Elegance of Figoni & Falaschi, but other eras had beautiful cars too, in the 1940ies, mainly in the 1950ies, 1960ies, in 1980ies, in 1990ies. Those cars since 10 years that are produced now are 5 years plastic disposable

Go to Pebble Beach Concourse D’Elegance in California that you will see what is a beautiful car

As Exterior a 1953 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith is a Beautiful one. See in internet and look for my 2002 Rolls Royce Soul Design you will understand. Of course, those immense cars of 6 m length is not a daily one anymore, but details today could have been played better. Worked in the 1995 GM Corsa Sedan and it is a beautiful car if you consider all form thought and is a simple daily one, but all those GMs, Cadillacs, Buicks of today and BMWs are not beautiful ones. Worked on the 2002 BMW 6 Series E63 and it was a daily beautiful car too

        2. Just so we’re clear, freedom of speech, as written in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, refers to the government’s interference with said speech. It has zero to do with anything outside public domain (i.e. your opinions on a media platform) – which is why a private media company can refuse to publish an opinion they disagree with.

But carry on, I’m sure all will rest easy knowing that you will continue to voice your opinions

          1. Well I would think that a respectable site like gm authority would appreciate good, honest conversation about the product they cover… Meanwhile in China, where this 1.3t was primarily designed, I would assume the majority of the population doesn’t even have ready access to this site. But thanks for clarifying, appreciate it 🙏

New Trax looks like a Blazer which is OK, BUT,

        3 cyl and no 4WD.

    3. Trax is a $20,000 vehicle stocked with features one wouldn’t expect on a value oriented CUV. In addition, it’s external design looks sharper than Encore GX which is shocking for the price point.
I’d understand if you were criticizing the exterior design of EV Nox. Or, while I wouldn’t totally agree, calling Encore GX over priced. Trax, however, us aimed at a cost conscious audience (new drivers/empty nesters looking to save before retirement/frugal shoppers who may typically buy used.

    4. Not sure you are comparing this to entry level cars from Hyundai , Kia, Nissan , Toyota, etc. It will represent a great alternative to the Kicks, , Venue, Carolla, even the Civic, etc
This will sell very well if GM can supply the inventory.

  5. Nice looking but a small displacement 4cyl option wouldn’t hurt. Something about three cylinders says buzzy and slow and I wonder if it’s all about meeting EPA mileage goals.

    Reply
    1. It doesn’t even get markedly better MPG than most vehicles in the segment. Infact a DCT would improve MPG more than cutting off a cylinder. The 3-pot design is all about cutting cost, not a better product, not gas mileage. It’s just about bottomline for shareholders, which is fine… Just wish gm would stop pissing on my head at telling me it’s rain.

      1. So you think cutting off a cylinder is just to save G.M. some money? If it causes reduced sales where’s the savings? I guess time will tell but in the mean time you should employ an umbrella.

        1. Lol. I’ve been using my umbrella ever since Mary took the helm.

  6. The biggest problem I see is the 1.2 engine. GM should have at least used the 1.3 as it makes more power and peak torque is 1000 rpm lower which makes a big difference. The lack of AWD is also a problem and will limit how many they sell. At this time the Trailblazer is still a much better vehicle than the Trax.

    1. Lol 🤣. I sincerely doubt it.

      1. The only way it wont do big numbers is GM wont be able to satisfy demand as they have nearly self destroyed their production capacity in the US.

  9. I have the 1.3L with 9 speed transmission in my Trailblazer. I must say I was very skeptical about the 3 cyl. Until I test drove it. I found one at a dealer and took it up the biggest hill i could find. I was very surprised at the power. True, I may not win any drag races, i don’t care. Enough power for everyday use and acceleration on Hi-way ramps is good enough for me. Not sure about the 1.2L. That in a bigger vehicle could be an issue.

    Reply
    1. “The Chevy Trailblazer. It’s good enough.” I’m glad you like it, I’ve test driven one too. I genuinely don’t know what would compel someone to buy one over numerous better offerings from competitors… Unless that loyal to the brand or financing was that much better.

Despite how critical I am of the Trailblazer I really would like to replace my Sonic with another b/c segment Chevy . But the TB is just woefully not competitive in the segment.

      Reply
      1. This guy over here talking about a sonic with a 1.4L that gets *less* power than the 1.3T. What a joke.

        Reply
        1. Y’all literally don’t know anything about cars… The TB platform with AWD is SUBSTANTIALLY heavier than the Sonic. Like over 1k lbs so. Therefore the slight, imperceptible power increase of the Shanghai 3 pot is a complete moot point. The sonic weighs about 20 lbs per HP versus the TB at around 27 lbs per HP.

My complaints aren’t unfounded… These aren’t even close to the best vehicles in the segment as currently offered. The Sonic and Cruze were competitive offerings at the time in their segments.

  10. I’ve got the 2021 trailblazer with the 1.3 L. All wheel drive. Plenty of power for the little cuv. I paid around $24,000 for an LS model. It has most of the safety features and gets around 32 mpg in a mix of driving. Fits it purpose fine. I have a 2018 equinox as well, which i like better but it cost $7,000. Trailblazer is fine for a cheap cuv. 25,000 miles with no issues.

  11. NEEDS AWD OPTION

    Reply
  12. No AWD. ffs gm what was the point.

  13. So the LT is 2k more than the LS. It loses the steel wheels. Bigger infotainment 11 inch and 8 inch gauges. As opposed to 5 and 3.5. remote start and keyless start not not in the LS. 6 speaker audio and clothes seats. The LS are vinyl seats then? The activ is just fancier looking. 23.4 K for the LT. Toyota Corolla SE is 2.0 4 cylinder with 170 HP and 23.95k. so in my opinion the tracks was supposed to sit below the Toyota Corolla as a more affordable, vehicle. I see the tracks is going to compete because it will be quieter, it has a proven engine that has been used in Europe, and it has a nice style to it, and with the new undercarriage I’m sure it’s going to have a great ride. I also like the fact that it has a 6-speed instead of the CVT on the corolla. My thought is that when kids will begin to get into them they will fix them up like tiny racing midgets. I give GM engineers a thumbs up on this one.

    Reply
    1. The 1.2t & 1.3t are not proven engines at all… They are very distantly related to Opel variants but have not been tested in the the European market, like previous Opel engines gm has used in the past. They are a fresh design from Shanghai engineering… Good luck 👍

  14. It’s not perfect, but it seems enough to replace Cruze.

    Reply
    1. I do wish the Cruze was still around. Mostly because there just aren’t many options for entry level cars anymore. And the Cruze was a decent vehicle and looked good until the latest redesign. It was popular for younger drivers.

For $20k there aren’t a lot of options.

  15. Reasons i will not buy :
    1) No AWD
    2) it is a foot longer than previous model
    3) It is to low
    4) Probably no fold down front passenger seat

  16. So the most expensive range topping model looks the cheapest. There is nothing about black painted plastic trim and wheels that is range topping or upscale! Otherwise this a decent looking little rig.

  17. This is a fantastic option, it is the Chevy Cruze replacement GM needs.. This will be an extremely affordable vehicle that offers lots of great features, AWD will likely not matter to those shopping in this segment

    Reply
  18. Looks like a great looking vehicle for the price. And I like that it doesn’t have a CVT. Weird that it doesn’t come with AWD as an option though.

I am not a fan of the blacked out wheels on that trim. That’s way overdone IMO. The other trims look better.
