GM officially unveiled the fully refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD late last September, revealing a long list of changes and updates over the preceding 2023 model year. Now, we’re getting our first look at the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD Work Truck Dually thanks to the following GM Authority photos.
For those readers who don’t know, the Work Truck (or WT) is the base trim level in the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD lineup, with the rest of the cadence including Custom, LT, LTZ, High Country, and the new-for-2024 ZR2. This particular example, a 3500 HD model, presents a dual-rear wheel layout and Regular Cab / Long Box body configuration, and is covered in Summit White paint (paint code GAZ), giving it a stark, simplified look.
This particular model is also equipped with the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, an optional upgrade over the standard naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine. Following the 2024-model-year refresh, the 6.6L V8 L5P now produces a maximum of 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque, significantly more than the 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque produced prior. Meanwhile, the standard gasoline engine produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Both powerplants connect to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, which arrives as a replacement for the GM six-speed that connected to the gasoline engine prior to the refresh.
Notably, this particular example, which pairs 2WD with the optional Duramax engine, offers the highest available towing capacity for the Chevy Silverado HD lineup, rated at a stout 36,000 pounds. Under the body panels, the Chevy Silverado HD rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform.
Looking ahead, GM Authority has exclusively reported that the start of regular production (SORP) for the refreshed Chevy Silverado HD slated to kick off in February of the 2023 calendar year. Production will take place at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan, as well as the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

They found a bow tie for the grill! Yes!
I hope the General strengthens the tie rods.
It needs a Supercab. Too bulldog looking.
I love the pickup with just a single cab.
I’ve been a GMC Sierra owner since 2007. But GM is losing the styling . Ford and ram is Killing you on design. When is GM going to go back and revisit some of their past design success’s. Such as the 67 – 72 or the 94 – 98. Even the 07 – 13. But after that the design have gone steadily downhill!
