Representing the fifth model year of the current fifth-generation light-duty pickup, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 has been unavailable to order with the wireless phone charging feature. Luckily, this has changed, and the tech feature is once again available to order.
GM Authority has learned that the wireless phone charging option (RPO Code K4C), was originally constrained from late October to late November, is once again available to order on 2023 Sierra models as of November 21st 2022 production.
Vehicles that were built without this option can be identified with the RPO Code 00C (zero zero C) on the window sticker. There is no retrofit for these units available or planned at this time.
It’s worth noting that wireless phone charging is normally equipped as standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels, and optional on Elevation and SLT trims. It’s not available at all on Pro or SLE trim levels.
For reference, GM also limited wireless phone charging on select units of the Sierra’s corporate cousin, the 2023 Chevy Silverado Additionally, some units of the 2023 Sierra 1500 were built without function power outlets, as well as ventilated seat blower motors. However, it’s worth noting that some of these limitations have been lifted.
As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is available with three engine options. These include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, which develops 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and finally the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, with produces 277 horsepower at and 460 pound-feet of torque.
As for structure, 2023 Sierra rides on the GM T1 platform, which it shares with all of GM’s full-size SUVs and pickup trucks, while production kicked off on August 29th at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, while production at the GM Silao plant in Mexico was delayed by one week.

Why is the engine option summary and platform basis included in every post about Sierra 1500s? It’s not a bother and I skip over it – but why?
Am I missing something? As I count the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 comes with 4 engine choices not 3. The big 2.7L 4 cylinder, the 5.3L V8, the 6.2L V8 and the 3.0L 6I turbodiesel Duramax. Also, the 3.0L Duramax (LZ0) produces 305 horsepower and 495 foot pounds of torque.
Anyone know if the LZ0 Diesel engine is still under constraint? I asked GM Authority, but they didn’t answer, and I’ve not seen information from GMA ever writing about this constraint. I went to order a High Country about a month ago, and my dealer said I can’t order it until GM removes it.
Chevymike…I’ve not heard or read anything saying the LZ0 was under constraint. I have on order a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 LTZ with the LZ0 Duramax since Oct 18th, and neither the dealer I’m working with or GM have made noise as to constraints with the LZ0. As a matter of fact, my truck has just entered the production cycle, so I’m assuming all is golden. You may want to check with another dealer.
I ordered in late July, confirmed in August, made in October — waiting for delivery. I ordered the 3.0 Duramax with no constraint. I’ve seen the window sticker with no exception other than steer column lock. Your dealer should know.
i just bought brand new 2023 SLT and it has non functional wireless charger. do they have retrofit available yet?
