Back in July 2022, GM Authority reported that the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup would be offered in eight space-themed exterior paint options. However, today we’ve learnt that one of these colors has been scrapped.
GMC has changed its mind and decided to pull the Moonshot Green Matte (Color code G7W) hue on the Hummer EV Pickup. Instead, this paint color will be reserved exclusively for the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1.
This means that the 2023 Hummer EV Pickup will now be offered with seven exterior paint colors. They are as follows (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Afterburner Tintcoat (GC5)
- Deep Aurora Metallic (GXN)
- Interstellar White (GAZ)
- Meteorite Metallic (GNO)
- Supernova Metallic (GKK)
- Tide Metallic (G7X)
- Void Black (GBA)
It’s worth noting that Interstellar White and Void Black are no-charge colors. The other five exterior colors will be available at an extra cost, but their cost has yet to be revealed.
The Moonshot Green Matte hue has been getting some attention lately. In November 2022, we spotted what we thought to be a Hummer EV Pickup in this color. This was surprising, given the fact that the color was exclusive to the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1. However, GMC subsequently helped us understand that this particular Hummer EV was draped in a Military Green wrap.
As a reminder, production of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup began late last year at the GM Factory Zero plant (previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) in Michigan. The Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 produces 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet torque sourced from GM Ultium batteries and brought to the ground via three GM Ultium Drive motors.
As for structure, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, as well as the GMC Hummer EV SUV, ride’s on the wide track version of GM’s dedicated “body-on-battery” electric BT1 platform. A different, more narrow version of the same architecture underpins the upcoming Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV.
