2023 Chevy Malibu Gets New Riverside Blue Metallic Paint: First Look

The 2023 Chevy Malibu adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Radiant Red Tintcoat, Sterling Gray Metallic, and Riverside Blue Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Blue hue.

Assigned RPO code GKK and touch-up paint code WA-627D, Riverside Blue Metallic is one of seven exterior colors offered on the midsize sedan, which include:

  • Dark Ash Metallic
  • Mineral Gray Metallic
  • Mosaic Black Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)
  • Riverside Blue Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (new for 2023)

The Riverside Blue Metallic color is no-cost item that is available on all trim levels and can be combined with all available interior colorways.

For reference, here are all three available interior colorways offered on the 2023 Malibu:

  • Dark Atmosphere/Medium Ash Gray (LS/1LT only)
  • Jet Black (all trims)
  • Dark Atmosphere/Light Wheat (2LT only)

The 2023 Chevy Malibu ushers in a variety of important changes and updates compared to the preceding 2022 model year. The midsize sedan will no longer offer the Premier trim level nor its turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine and GM 9-speed automatic transmission that were included with the range-topping trim. Going forward, the 2023 Malibu is available exclusively with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV gasoline engine, which mates to the CVT, or Continuously Variable (automatic) Transmission (RPO code MRG). This combination was previously offered for all 2022 model-year Chevy Malibu trim levels, with the exception of the Premier. Output is rated at 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.

Additionally, GM has repackaged the content of the Premier trim as a new 2LT trim level on the 2023 Malibu. As a result, the sedan’s top trim now starts at $2,000 less than it did in the 2022 model. Additionally, two of the Malibu’s dealer-installed convenience packages are no longer available to order.

Production of the 2023 Chevy Malibu kicked off at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City on September 7th, 2022. The online configurator tool is now live for the 2023 Malibu.

    1. The turbo 4 is stronger than you might think but i agree they should at the very least have the world class 3.6 V6.
