General Motors unveiled the 2023 Chevy Colorado this past July, pulling the sheets on an all-new third generation for the pickup. Among the updates and changes introduced with the 2023 model year was the new StowFlex Tailgate, which is offered as a built-in storage solution for whatever you may need to bring.
The StowFlex Tailgate is accessible with the tailgate lowered, and features a 45-inch-wide, four-inch-deep compartment with a lockable lid. The storage compartment is watertight, but also includes a drain, which makes it perfect for loading up with some tasty beverages and ice, or just as a secure place to keep whatever items need to be securely locked away.
Tagged with RPO code BPC, the StowFlex Tailgate is available on all trim levels of the 2023 Chevy Colorado. For the base-model Work Truck (WT), the StowFlex Tailgate is included and only available in conjunction with the WT Convenience Package II (RPO code PCU), which is priced at $545 and requires the WT Convenience Package (RPO code PCY), which itself is priced at $415.
The LT trim level offers the StowFlex Tailgate with the LT Convenience Package (RPO code PCZ), which is priced at $1,270. Trail Boss models offer the feature via the Trail Boss Convenience II Package (RPO code PCW), which is $545 and requires the Trail Boss Convenience Package (RPO code PDA), which is priced at $375.
As for Z71 trim levels, the StowFlex Tailgate is only available from the Z71 Convenience Package II (RPO code PCX), which is $1,625. Finally, the 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 includes the StowFlex Tailgate feature as standard.
Under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Colorado draws motivation from GM’s turbocharged 2.7L I4 gasoline engine, which is available in three states of tune depending on the trim level selected. The base tune is tagged with RPO code L2R, and produces 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, while the other two tunes are tagged with RPO code L3B and produce 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, and 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
Under the body panels, the 2023 Chevy Colorado rides an updated version of the 31XX platform. Production kicks off early next year at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

When you build one online, in the options section they also offer a Bose stereo system that bolts inside the tailgate, similar to the system on the full-size truck multi pro/flex tailgate option. It’s pricey at $850 though.
I haven’t seen anything about a Bose system for the Colorado tailgate on the configurator, or elsewhere. The only Bose mentioned for the 2023 Colorado is the interior Bose system available in up trim Colorado’s. There’s an $850 optional “Kicker” listed, but this is a subwoofer for the interior, and not a tailgate sound system like what’s offered by Kicker for the GMC MultiPro tailgate. The Kicker subwoofer is nothing new, as the previous generation Colorado was available with it too.
gbvette62, It is a stand-alone system that mounts in the rear/tailgate. If you read the description, it has an amplifier built into the tailgate and I believe 2ea 100-watt speakers.
Yeah it’s weird though because the description of the kicker sound system is identical to the same option in the Canyon…but no multiflex on the Colorado, so not sure what is going on. Either way I ordered it because it sounds super fun, the factory allowed that option to be ordered so we’ll see what I end up with!
I went on the GM build site and was wanting to get a Trailboss trim package. I was disappointed when I couldn’t get a heated steering wheel or heated seats. We like to hunt in Nebraska it’s nice to have The off road packages but with some luxury to help keep you warm while hunting.
Thanks
