2023 Chevy Bolt EUV Voted Best EV Under $35,000 By KBB

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV has only been around for two model years now, and has been busy collecting awards and recognition alike. Now, Chevy’s all-electric subcompact crossover has been acknowledged by Kelley Blue Book as the best new EV priced under $35,000.

As a slightly larger offering than the closely related Chevy Bolt EV, the 2023 Bolt EUV impressed KBB with a roomy back seat and stellar build quality, as well as a decent price and impressive 247-mile driving range. KBB notes that driving range is especially important to prospective EV buyers in this price segment.

“The number of electric vehicles available to new-car shoppers continues to increase at a staggering pace, and the competition continues to get hotter as these efficient rides gain popularity among consumers,” said Jason Allan, principal editor of reviews and ratings for Kelley Blue Book. “In addition to the Best New Model, our team also named the top 2023 model-year vehicles in the categories most relevant to today’s car shoppers.”

It’s worth noting that KBB‘s Best New Model award went to the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5.

To compile the data for KBB‘s annual Best Buy Award, the publication analyzed vehicle pricing, five-year Cost to Own, consumer reviews and ratings, and vehicle sales information. In order to be considered, the vehicle must have been all-new or redesigned, as well as offer a strong value to consumers.

The Chevy Bolt EUV has been garnering recognition since the EV was launched for the 2022 model year. Awards include a five-star National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Safety rating, as well as Urban Green Car Of The Year.

As a reminder, the Chevy Bolt EUV, along with the Chevy Bolt EV, rides on the GM BEV2 platform and utilizes a single electric motor, which produces 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque driving the front wheels. Meanwhile, production of the 2023 Bolt EUV and Bolt EV began on July 21st, 2022 at the GM Orion Assembly plant in Michigan.

  1. Now if you told me the Bolt had a 600 mile driving range that would be impressive, but a 247 mile range is certainly not impressive.

    1. Or, impressive in the wrong way ……

    2. Kevin: No EV’s have a range of more than 250 to 300 max unless you are paying a huge amount more for the car with a lot more battery. The 247 range is better than many and for one heck of a lot less. Your comment is certainly not impressive.

  2. Anyone know how these things are holding up to winters , road salt. We know what happened in Florida with sea water. Can u get an ev undercoated. In upstate NY they salt the hell out of the roads.

    1. Ken: That’s a really good question/s. I don’t know the answers, but I would guess these would be the same as any ICE car when it comes to having them undercoated.
