GMC Sierra owners with a penchant for performance can turn to Specialty Vehicle Engineering to scratch the itch by way of the 2023 Sport Edition GMC Sierra Lowered, offering upwards of 800 supercharged horsepower to haul way more than just cargo.
Obviously, the main draw of the 2023 Sport Edition GMC Sierra Lowered is what’s lurking under the hood. Making the go on this performance pickup is a new supercharger kit for either the factory 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, or the factory 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, with the final tune yielding 700 horsepower from the former and 800 horsepower from the latter.
Standout power specs include a blueprinted aluminum block with a race-quality and computer-balanced rotating assembly, including forged aluminum pistons and a forged 1538MV twisted steel crankshaft. The engine build also includes upgraded cylinder heads and a custom stainless steel exhaust system.
To backup the impressive engine, the 2023 Sport Edition GMC Sierra Lowered is also fitted with new six-piston front brakes clamping down on a set of vented rotors, while unique six-spoke wheels wrapped in Nitto performance tires keep it all glued to road. The suspension is tweaked to include a larger-diameter heavy-duty rear sway bar and heavy-duty traction bars, while SVE is also offering an optional sport suspension kit with with lowering springs (2-inch drop in front, 5-inch drop in the rear) and Fox shocks.
Naturally, the exterior shows off the truck’s new performance potential with a new hood and fender inserts, as well as unique badging, while a few unique bits and pieces were added to the cabin as well. Customers that want even more customization have a range of additional options to choose from.
SVE is now offering the new 2023 Sport Edition GMC Sierra Lowered upgrade for 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 models equipped with either of the V8 engine options, plus either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and either a Double Cab or Crew Cab body style paired with either a short box or standard box.
SVE says it’s building just 50 examples of the 700-horsepower truck and 50 examples of the 800-horsepower truck. To note, the Sport Edition package is not emissions-legal in California. Interested customers can contact SVE for more information.
