Next-Gen Cadillac XT5 To Be Exclusive To China

The next-generation Cadillac XT5 will be exclusive to the Chinese market, per recent statements from GM President Mark Reuss.
During the GM Investor Day event held last week, Reuss discussed future GM products, including the redesigned, next-generation Cadillac XT5, which Reuss confirmed will only be sold in China and will not be available in North America.
“This is for China only, as we move Cadillac in the United States to an all-electric brand,” Reuss said in reference to the next-gen Cadillac XT5 during a presentation. “The XT5 is still a very high-volume segment in China, and we’re going to do that with a new design language interpretation, both inside and out.”
The next-generation Cadillac XT5 is slated to arrive for the 2024 calendar year.
In addition to confirming that the new Cadillac XT5 will be exclusive to the Chinese market, Reuss also confirmed the imminent debut of the internal-combustion-powered Cadillac GT4 for the Chinese market. What’s more, Reuss confirmed the upcoming debut of a new all-electric Cadillac crossover for the 2024 calendar year, as well as the debut of the new all-electric Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL full-size SUVs. The new all-electric crossover will be smaller than the Cadillac Lyriq in terms of exterior dimensions, and is expected to carry one of several recently trademarked names (Optiq, Symboliq, Lumistiq, Acsendiq, or Vistiq).

Meanwhile, the current 2023 Cadillac XT5 is offered in the U.S. market as the seventh model year for the current first-generation crossover, soldiering on with minimal changes compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Under the hood, the first-gen Cadillac XT5 is available in the U.S. with one of two engine options, including turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, which is rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Both engines connect to the GM 9-speed automatic transmission, while under the skin, the XT5 rides on the GM C1 platform. Production for North America takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
