Nascar Chevy Truck Series Teams Disappoint In 2022 Championship: Video

When the Truck Series season reached its zenith at Phoenix Raceway on November 4th, 2022, none of the Nascar Chevy truck teams were up for a championship run. Out of the Final 4 contenders, three drove Toyota Tundra race trucks, and one piloted a Ford F-150 racer. At the end of the day, while the Chevy Silverado racers could only stand by and watch, it was the No. 38 Ford F-150 of Zane Smith hoisting the 2022 championship trophy in Victory Lane.

In fact, only two Chevy Silverado race trucks qualified for the postseason Playoffs out of 10 overall competitors. To add insult to injury, the best-finishing Bow Tie machine at Phoenix was that of Grant Enfinger, who brought his No. 23 Silverado across the line in seventh. Enfinger, who made his 150th career Truck Series start at Phoenix, was eliminated from Playoffs contention after the Round of 8 concluded at Homestead a few weeks ago. Enfinger put the No. 23 Nascar Chevy truck in Victory Lane at Indianapolis Raceway Park in July, his only win of the season.

Chevy Silverado race trucks secured five wins overall in 2022, compared to Ford’s six wins and Toyota’s 12 wins.

While the 2022 Truck Series season was rather disappointing for the Nascar Chevy truck teams, there is a major pivot for the better on the horizon. Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) will field Silverado trucks beginning in 2023 as owner/driver Kyle Busch himself moves to a Chevy team at the Cup Series level. Previously, KBM was a Toyota-backed powerhouse in the Truck Series, so its expertise in the division will certainly be a major boost for Chevy’s racing efforts next season.

  1. hope chevy did not spend all their $$$ to get kyle busch and have some left to fix the truck teams.

  2. Ford and Chevy do not put any money in the truck series.
Very few have any interest in it.
90% of the seats are empty at the truck races.
I think the race purses will be down to a couple
of hundred dollars in the near future!
