GM has issued a service bulletin to fix the internal seam and underbody sealers in 2023 Cadillac XT6 units.
The problem: During adhesion testing in-plant, the internal seam and underbody sealer may have failed.
The hazards: if the internal seam and underbody sealer were to have failed, then the vehicle’s structure could be compromised.
The fix: certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect the sealer and apply new sealer to the affected areas. GM notes that technicians should not order from GMCCA and need to use 3-M Bare Metal Seam Sealer (Part no. 8310) from a local body shop. The repair process should take roughly four hours.
Affected components: internal seam and underbody sealer.
Affected vehicles:
- 2023 Cadillac XT5
- 2023 Cadillac XT6
- 2023 GMC Acadia
Number of affected vehicles: GM does not currently know the number of affected vehicles at this time.
Owners should: owners of affected vehicles will receive an owner notification letter in the mail with instructions on how to proceed. Affected owners can reach out to Cadillac directly using the contact information included below.

And the Lyriq runs down the same assembly line. Same body shop I assume.
Fix released in a week or so but the 2020 XT6 I bought still can’t be delivered to be due to a recall issued September 22nd? Garbage.
So new Cadillacs are held together with glorified super glue?
It’s because Cadillacs are welded together.
All cars have used seam sealer since the 80’s. The issue is welding messes up the structure of the steel, so metal around welds will corrode faster. Also, spot welds create gaps.
If they glued the cars together they wouldn’t need seam sealer.
Is there a company release which states what dates these vehicles were produced, such as early production or up to and including very recent production ??
