GM has issued a service bulletin to fix the internal seam and underbody sealers in 2023 Cadillac XT5 models.
The problem: during adhesion testing in-plant, the internal seam and underbody sealer may have failed.
The hazards: if the internal seam and underbody sealer were to have failed, then the vehicle’s structure could be compromised.
The fix: certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect the sealer and apply new sealer to the affected areas. Technicians should not order from GMCCA and need to use 3-M Bare Metal Seam Sealer (Part no. 8310). The repair process should take roughly four hours.
Affected components: internal seam and underbody sealer.
Affected vehicles:
- 2023 Cadillac XT5
- 2023 Cadillac XT6
- 2023 GMC Acadia
Number of affected vehicles: GM does not currently know the number of affected vehicles at this time.
Owners should: owners of affected vehicles will receive an owner notification letter in the mail with instructions on how to proceed. Affected owners can reach out to Cadillac directly using the contact information included below.

As a reminder, the Cadillac XT5 rides on the GM C1 platform and is offered with two powertrain options. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, is standard on Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels. Models with this engine wear the 350T on the liftgate. Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim level and standard on the Sport trim. These models can be identified by the 400 badge on the liftgate.
The GM nine-speed automatic transmission serves as the only transmission option.
XT5 production for North America takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. The 2023 Cadillac XT5 began rolling off the assembly line on June 10th, 2022.

So now the GM Luxury Brand is literally falling apart? Is there no end to this? I’ll answer my own question. Yes, unless GM management gets its act together there will be no more GM. Don’t laugh, it almost happened in the past.
Ridiculous. The Cadillac badge means nothing on the production line.
What do these engineers do all day long ? Sit around with their thumb up their butt ?? Cadillac , they are running that name into the ground. Believe it or not, Cadillac was the KING of all cars in the 50’s and 60’s , look at it now, pitiful.
I am a little disappointed in Cadillac myself, bought a 2023 XT5 (New) didn’t get 40 miles from my dealer and a shaft in the transmission failed and it stopped right on the highway. It would back up but wouldn’t go forward, it has been over two weeks and they can’t get the part for it… So I’m not getting any info on when or if they will get the part… Seems they’re always a hurry to sell you a new vehicle, but doesn’t seem to be any rush to get the part…
This should be a recall and a stop sale, not a TSB. Subaru had a structural issue a few years ago with some new vehicles. Their remedy was to literally replace customers cars with new ones. GM discovers an issue that compromises structural integrity, and they tell dealers to use non-GM sourced sealer…and perform a procedure that takes 4 hours per vehicle. Does anyone honestly believe that all dealers will follow the procedure to the letter? [They won’t]. And GM doesn’t know the number of units affected?? [They most likely do, but don’t want to say because this is a pretty big deal.] Moral of the story is, do not buy a 2023 XT5, XT6, or Acadia new or pre-owned. Way too risky.
CALLED GM AFTER READING ARTICLE ABOUT THE SEALER – GET SOME ONE ON THE PHONE THAT SOUNDED LIKE THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT – AFTER ARGUING FOR 10 MINUTES WITH HER I FINALLY SAID THANKS FOR NOTHING AND HUNG UP
Mary—what happened to no more crappy vehicles?
knew she was a looser from day ONE and she didn’t disappoint…
4 hour repair. I bet they tear out the interior to get to the floor pan. These repairs either won’t be done properly, or customers will have a lot of interior rattles and broken trim pieces.
HOW IS THIS GOING TO AFFECTMY VEHICLE AS FAR AS THE REPAIR – WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO HAVE TO DO THAT TAKES 4HOURS TO REPEIR – I’M A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS
