GM Releases Final Teaser Of Next-Gen Chevy Montana Pickup

In recent months, General Motors has been actively showing off various details about the next-gen Chevy Montana in its final phase of development, and has now just revealed the last teaser for the new compact pickup ahead of its official unveiling.

The automaker released the third and final teaser image of the next-gen Chevy Montana ahead of its scheduled December 1st reveal, which is the company’s most strategic vehicle for next year in Brazil and all of South America. GM Brazil began the countdown to the presentation of the new Montana with a pre-sale page within the Chevrolet website in the country.

While the first sneak peek of the model showed off the silhouette of its crew cab body and the second image previewed the Chevy Blazer-inspired front end, the third and final teaser for the next-gen Chevy Montana shows off design details of the compact pickup’s rear section for the first time. In fact, the most recent episode of new Montana web series focused precisely on the cargo box.

The teaser image of the next-gen Chevy Montana’s rear shows a unique cargo bed design with small, raised LED taillamps, connected horizontally by a gloss-black trim that runs the length of the tailgate – which has the name CHEVROLET lettering stamped in the middle. Also noticeable is a generously sized rear window and a tonneau cover.

GM says the next-gen Chevy Montana will debut a new compact pickup concept for Chevrolet, offering a combination of “the best of pickup and SUV in one vehicle” – the two fastest-growing segments in the Brazilian market. The Montana will use an extended-length variant of the GEM platform, shared with the current Chevy Onix and Tracker also developed in Brazil.

The next-gen Chevy Montana will make its world debut on December 1st in Brazil through a special broadcast on the official Chevrolet Brasil channel on YouTube, which will kick off the pre-sale period. Production of the upcoming Montana is expected to begin shortly at the GM São Caetano do Sul plant that will supply the Brazilian market and other Latin American countries.

  1. This segment is going to be a new emerging segment, like the mini van, pony cars, compact SUVs,. If GM doesn’t have plans to get this to the U.S. they will miss out yet again. It is a different buyer than the Colorado. To sell in the US it would need a bigger motor than the 1.2, awd, and the option of towing 3000 lbs. Very doable, but unfortunately not likely.

    1. it was made for Brasil, Argentine, Chile and others South America countries only, as main production is S. Caetano do Sul – SP, forget North America, it is a combustion engine

      1. GM may be beta testing in Brazil (sympathetic home field) , so they avoid release problems in US, like the ones experienced by Ford Maverick (reliability and mfg capacity sold out in days).
Also several new ICE power options are emerging which GM may be considering. OPOC and LiquidPiston Multi fuel, Wankelesque, 10×1 rotary to piston displacement power (If you believe the hype? I am not associated with GM or Liquid Power, just an observer)
        Here’s a LiquidPower link… (kind of interesting).

  2. Looks good, with the GM/Chevy Camaro corporate looking front end. Unfortunately, at this time, the people running GM don’t believe this is for us in the USA. They’ll tell you never mind that the order book for the Ford Maverick was closed for 2023 production………….in 3 days. That about every single one is accounted for. No, according to them, there is no market in the US to make a profit on a small sized pickup.

    1. AND Hyundai seems to be doing rather well with their Santa Cruz.

      1. Yep, starting to see them on the roads. Hyundai has really picked up it’s game in recent years. Good looking cars. Almost seems like we’ll see a Toyota reply to the Santa Cruz and the Maverick while GM remains asleep at the switch.

      2. this is to compete with Fiat Toro in Brasil only.

      3. Yep they sold a whopping 28,000 Santa Cruz

        Not exactly a runaway success.

  3. Seems Subaru was ahead of it’s time with the Baja years back. This Montana might work for me as a retired homeowner. Miss my S10s. Wake up Mary,

  4. This would be a slam dunk if they can give it at least 220 hp and price it at less than 30k with full safety features and good tech.

    1. And 2-door. Jeep missed a ton of sales by not offering the new Jeep pickup in 2-door.

  5. All GM cares about is EV’S I’ll have to find an ICE car from someone else

      1. so, keep with your older cars as we do… today saw in supermarket garage a 1988 Jaguar Sovereign XJ40 … all ok, do not like the wood inside, but all windows with chrome frames, the good hood ornament on it… so went to see the car and still running…

  6. I sure hope there is a 2-door version, if not I am going Bronco since GM refuses to compete with Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.

    1. no, it will not have. it is just this vehicle for Brasil.

  7. well think the all blend on upper tailgate must have been lighting red lens… not only a plastic cover.

  8. Bummer they won’t bring back s10 back for the us market

  9. Out all here we would be lucky only one of you bought this truck!

Many would complain it was too expensive, not made here or has too few cylinders.

So far none of the present models are high volume.

Like your other wishes like the wagons, hatches or sedans you never bought. V

  10. GM is behind the times in the states. It’s an old boys club run by dinosaurs and investors who take no risk. The Montana will most likely never hit us markets in our life time..and if it does I’m guessing not for at least 4-5 years.. and there won’t be any marketing or push for it

  11. With the way gm is being run. I’m getting pretty close to ending my consumer relationship with this company. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and I’ve been pretty disappointed as of late. I love the corvette. But aside from that they don’t seem to want to follow the market.
