First Production 2023 Corvette Z06 Rolls Off The Line

Fans eager to get their hands on the new 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will be happy to know that the mid-engine super car is now in production at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky, with The General recently sharing an image of the first-ever production model fresh off the line.

While it’s great to see new units of the hotly anticipated 2023 Corvette Z06 finally rolling out at the Bowling Green facility, it bears mentioning that Z06 production actually began in September, per previous GM Authority coverage.

Regardless, this minty fresh 2023 Corvette Z06 still looks quite appealing. This first unit is draped in Carbon Flash Metallic paint and is equipped with the Z07 Performance Package and the 70th Anniversary Special Edition Package (RPO code Y70), the latter of which includes:

  • Optional Satin Black stripes for the Carbon Flash Metallic paint (or White Pearl metallic Tri-coat paint with optional Satin Gray Stripes)
  • Two-tone Ceramic leather GT2 or Compeitition Sport seats
  • Red contrast stitching and seatbelts
  • Sueded microfiber seat inserts
  • Suede steering wheel
  • New badging
  • Edge Red brake calipers
  • Edge Red engine cover
  • Unique rear bumper protector / trunk cover
  • Custom luggage set
  • Logos for the headrests, steering wheel, and sill plates
  • Unique build plaque

As reported in January, Chevy dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick placed the winning $3.6 million bid for the first-ever production 2023 Corvette Z06 when it went up for auction at a Barrett-Jackson event earlier in the year. Proceeds were donated to benefit non-profit organization Operation Homefront. Notably, Hendrick also secured the first-ever production 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 convertible, as reported in April.

Per exclusive GM Authority coverage published earlier today, GM is now accepting new 2023 Corvette Z06 dealer orders. Previously, GM said it would no longer accept new Corvette Z06 orders for the remainder of the 2023 model year as a result of heavy production constraints. Now, however, it now appears as though the automaker has backtracked on that stance.

As a reminder, the 2023 Corvette Z06 features the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 engine. Under the skin is the GM Y2 platform.

    2. Lots of “first car off the line” which are popular go up for auction and are bought WAY over sticker.
The money goes to charity and the buyer gets to put down a HUGE tax deduction. WIN WIN.

  2. Just looked at the build and price and most if not all options are available. Now…..how many of the 2023’s are they going to make and how fast are they going to make them???

  5. Well, it’s going to a “Good Home”, the first Z06, hard to beat Mr. Hendricks legacy….and his vast fortune and thank goodness he’s got great taste in American Vehicles too…Go Chevy! I suppose it would be easy to say something crass or stupid, but you’ve got to hand it to Rick Hendrick’s, he’s got the ability to pick and choose whatever he wants in life, something that we can only look at and wish we had that ability, but lets face it, Mr. Hendrick’s earned every dollar he’s ever made and he’s invested those dollars well enough that his legacy is pretty much secured for a long time. Will “Rick” ever put this new Z06 through it’s paces on a drag strip or a race track? Uh, not likely, so the vehicle itself is secure, it won’t be “rode hard and put away wet”, in fact I’d be surprised if it even touches the street at some point in time, and will NEVER be driven in anger nor it’s wild “Engine Red Line” ever hit, even once…except maybe while in “Neutral”, parked.
Oh well, have fun owning this special Corvette “Rick”, it’s yours to do as you wish, and I’m sure your wish will be to park it in a museum or car collection of yours, for others to see and admire. This is one C8 Z06 that will live forever as a truly pampered Corvette for future generations to see and admire…nothing wrong with that, is there? Enjoy your “Gift” Rick.

  6. If anyone really deserves appropriate recognition from the “GENERAL” and the Chevrolet Motor Division, it is Rick Hendricks!

  7. Taking funding from Twitter now that Elon owns it shows where gm is stands for freedom of speech. Woke gm keeps making these mistakes.

  8. I canceled my C8R ($110K) order in lieu of a Z06. At that time there were no Z06 delays etc. Today, I went in and did the build and price as if all options were available. Two done seats and carbon fiber interiors are not an option? That said the price came in at $169,700. I am on the list but most likely it will be 2024 and the price will be pushing 200K. Corvette was the affordable American Sports Car. At 170K+ I have to really think about it. That all said, I am kicking myself in the butt every day for not taking the C8R convertible.

  9. I suggest that Reeves Callaway deserves more recognition from Chevrolet Motor Division that Hendricks but then again I am partial
