The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 features front end design changes and a new cabin offered on the LT trim and higher, along with the all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2. As a reminder, the 2022 Silverado 1500 Limited was a stop-gap measure till the refreshed model could be built, and even introduced a few changes of its own over the 2021 models. Recently, GM announced that customers who are waiting to receive their new, refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 may be eligible for a substantial $3,000 compensation offer.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 arrives as the fourth model year of the fourth-generation nameplate, introducing a few changes and updates over the fully refreshed 2022 model year. One such change is that 2023 Silverado Duramax models will be equipped with the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 engine turbo-diesel “baby Duramax,” replacing the 3.0L I6 LM2.
The big news for 2023 is the introduction of the first-ever 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 Bison. The Silverado ZR2 Bison represents Chevy’s second collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), a premium off-road aftermarket manufacturer – the first being the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison. Available as an options package exclusively for the Silverado 1500 ZR2, the Bison elevates the off-road capabilities of the ZR2 with a selection of upgrades and unique touches. The 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 itself was recently named a semifinalist for the North American Car Of The Year (NACTOY) award.
Also for 2023, the Silverado light-duty pickup receives a $1,000 price hike across the board.
Production of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 began at the GM Oshawa plant in Ontario on August 20th, 2022, and at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico on August 29th, 2022, for both Regular Cab and Crew Cab models, and on September 6th, 2022, for Double Cab models.

They can shove that 4 cylinder right where the sun don’t shine. It was a hard sell on a 6 cyl truck. Who in their right mind would want a 4 cyl? No thanks. These things will be piled up 10 deep on the dealer lots. No one wants them, even with the meager incentives they are throwing on them. They will be fire sale items come December and January.
For 10k off I’d consider it…..
But think about the fuel savings over a V8.
Ok, so there really isn’t any. But think about it
The only valuable powertrain GM has in their trucks is the 3.0 Duramax.
The rest are unreliable, poorly engineered junk. Even their V8s have gone into the toilet.
Because of a bad batch of lifters from a supplier? Come one, tell me you haven’t done any research on the subject without actually telling me. GM V8’s are still extremely reliable, they build millions a year, there will be some failures which is compounded with a larger bad batch, but 98% are good solid engines like they always have been. Our last 3 AFM engines have gone north of 100k without issue and friends are in the same boat. I personally don’t know a person that has had a AFM failure that wasn’t the bad batch in the new 6.2’s. Shoot, one buddy had nearly 300k on his Tahoe before upgrading. So that is just a false statement from a fanboy of another brand…
Yeah, the true believers are always blaming suppliers. But when I took my truck in, the dealership just said that nothing was wrong and it was fine as long as they couldn’t find a code in the computer.
Just goes to show you, they can’t even give the 4 cylinder truck’s away!
Yup, who is surprised?
It’s the same mpg as the V-8 5.3, no savings.
Yeah, I already covered that.
The idea of a 4 cylinder in a full size is a tough pill to swallow, but I’d take it over the 6 cylinder any day of the week. 430lbs of torque…and all that torque is in the low to mid-range part of the RPM range…right where you want it in a truck application.
I am very much looking forward to the 2.7 making it into the mid-size trucks. All that torque goodness in a mid-size truck. Please and Thank You.
Disclaimer: I’d much rather have a turbo V6 or a V8 in the mid-size, but we all knew that was a pipe dream. They almost put the 6.2 V8 with the 10 speed in the 2nd gen Colorado, but the project never full made it to production. Don’t believe me, look it up. GM was testing them down in Australia. Man, that would have been glorious.
Tons of people do, in fact the engine probably fits in a good portion of the buyers uses, including yourself since you are so offended. Most buyers don’t use their truck for truck stuff, it is an image purchase from a suburban cowboy. The 2.7 with its huge low end torque drives well and will pull and haul what probably 80% of buyers need in this demographic. So yes, tons of people want and buy them. I know of 4 that have them and are very happy. One even bought a 2500 Ram, got this truck, then sold the Ram when he realized it would do what he needed to around the farm with hauling his goats.
Don’t put your insecurities on others, you are in the exception not the rule…
Sounds like you work for GM. The truck may perform well when it is new, but use it to haul and tow everyday like a truck is supposed to be used and see how long that little 4 cylinder will last! You are just going to over work the turbo and have problems in the long run! I have a 2011 5.3 with 358,000 miles on it, I don’t think you will get close to that with a 4 cylinder!
These turbo aren’t from 20-30 years ago they are made much better. We also have better oil now that can with stand the high temperatures created by turbos. Also most AFM failures were from people not changing the oil soon enough or not using the synthetic. I been using synthetic since the early 90’s and all my cars engines ran great never had a problem. I even had a 1.4t 2011 cruze that was known for issue with the pvc valve. So I check mine when i got to 100k and it was not clogged up and working like new because I used Amsoil Synthetic. Oils make a huge difference on engines to day with tighter tollerance and higher heat you need a oil that won’t break done or burn off. Only good synthetics do that.
Must take delivery by Nov 30? Really? I’m still waiting for heated seat chips for 2022 2500HD that I received in Jan 2022. Where’s my discount? Hmmm, I need to pull up sticker and compare to today’s price. In time between when I ordered truck in Nov 2021 and when I took delivery in Jan 2022, price of truck went up $900. I wonder how much truck prices have gone up this year, and what the January 2023 bump will be to cover Mary’s bonus. And yet, I’m still waiting for heated seat chips (and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel chips) for a $62k truck I purchased 10.5 months ago.
I follow Ford Authority as well. The comments on Ford Authority are no where close as negative as the comments on GM Authority. Ford is having similar issues, but handling it much differently than GM.
Rebate applies to 4 cyl engine only.
Love my GM V8 2017 never had a problem! Truck V8 or nothing.. Old school! Think Scott is a Ford guy😁!
They can cram the 4 cyl in a heavy as truck where the sun don’t shine, I’m not gonna whine about chips on heated seats though. The thing i hate it has the rebate and the rest don’t. 10 grand still won’t get me to buy it. Sick some 5.3&6.2 with that rebate on the lots. But I’ve not heard any bad things about 5.3s from the owners I’ve talked to. #1 selling truck. Don’t need the rebate. Ford still looks 20 years old is why Chevy pressed them. But the cheap trucks dash looks crappy compared to all other brands. The cheap one phys be like the Tahoe by now. If it were is have already bought mine. It looks too 90s.4cyl should be way less. 10k rebate although they’re strong. Plastic oil pan bolt? Seems crappy.
Wayne, I have no idea what you are trying to say- you need to have someone else put your thoughts on paper for you.
