Chevy has been ranked near the bottom of the latest J.D. Power 2022 Mexico Vehicle Dependability Study.
In the J.D. Power 2022 Mexico Vehicle Dependability Study, Chevy scored 277 PP100 in the Mass Market Brand Ranking list, placing it sixteenth among the 17 mass-market brands studied. Dodge was last on the list with 289 PP100, while Ford was thirteenth with 251 PP100.
At the top of the Mass Market Brand Ranking list was Mitsubishi with 147 PP100, followed by Suzuki in second with 189 PP100 and Honda in third with 157 PP100. Overall, the Mass Market Brand Ranking segment average was 223 PP100.
In addition, the Chevy Beat ranked second in the entry subcompact segment, beating the Nissan March, but falling below the Volkswagen Gol.
“Automakers have a tremendous opportunity in front of them to keep customers in their brand,” said country manager at J.D. Power de Mexico, Gerardo Gomez. “From bumper to bumper, there are areas to improve upon and owners are feeling the adverse effect when taking their vehicle in for repair.”
The interview evaluations were then used to determine “problems per 100 vehicles,” or PP100, for each brand studied, with a lower PP100 indicating higher overall quality.
The J.D. Power 2022 Mexico Vehicle Dependability Study looks at problems experienced by new car owners in Mexico in the first 12 to 36 months of vehicle ownership, examining 177 individual problems spread across eight problem areas, including features/controls/displays (FCD), driving experience, engine/transmission, exterior, audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN), seats, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and interior.
This year’s study is based on evaluations of 6,722 interviews with new vehicle owners in Mexico who purchased their vehicle between 2019 and 2021. The study was fielded between March and August of 2022.
As GM Authority covered previously, Chevy also ranked low last year in the J.D. Power 2021 Mexico Vehicle Dependability Study. In that study, Chevy scored 220 PP100 in the Mass Market Brand Ranking list, placing it fourteenth among the 15 mass-market brands studied.

Here’s an idea…..Build them in the USA or only build the work trucks without all the FCD in Mexico. Whoever decided to build all ZR2’s and Trail Boss’s in Mexico is a fool, quality complaints are all over the internet and YouTube.
Sacrificing the quality for profit. GM will never learn because they are way toooooo greedy.
Beancounting has been a significant burden on GM for decades.
And next week, there will be an article on how highly they rank on JD Power….ugh.
Is this for Chevrolets built in Mexico and shipped to the USA, or those buil and sold in Mexico
Scotty is a mental midget that makes entire videos talking about oil consumption in modern cars without mentioning any Toyota or the Mustang GT350. He also showed youtube how to “fix” brake lines with compression fittings that literally says on the packaging not to use them to fix brake lines.
