Chevy Camaro Driver Loses It, But Gets Lucky: Video

Horsepower is plentiful these days, but unfortunately, average driver skill hasn’t kept up, as is evidenced by the following short video clip featuring a Chevy Camaro having a run-in with a curb.
The video is brief, clocking in at a little over 10 seconds, showing the Chevy Camaro on the street making a right-hand turn at an intersection. A group of people is gathered on the corner with their phones out shooting some video, suggesting the Chevy Camaro is exiting a car meet of some kind.
As the Chevy Camaro makes the corner, an onlooker says “‘Ya better hit it,” at which point the driver nails the throttle, sending a crescendo of V8 noises out the exhaust pipes. The rear of the Camaro starts to slide, but rather than stay in the throttle, the driver snaps off of it, transitioning the weight forward and making the tail of the sports car step out even more, lining up the front end with an adjacent curb.
As the Chevy Camaro crashes over the curb and onto the grass, an onlooker jumps out of the way. Luckily, the Camaro was traveling slow enough to recover, with the passenger side wheels hopping the curb before the driver pulls it together and gets everything back onto the black stuff, giving the throttle one last embarrassed blip before heading down the road.
It’s a bad look, and certainly not the sort of behavior we support on the street. Part of the issue is likely the extra-meaty tires in back, which appear to be some kind of drag rubber mounted on beadlock wheels. While looking great, the setup isn’t exactly ideal for sliding, and the driver may not have been familiar with the higher grip limits, resulting in a surprising excursion onto the curb.
As for the car, it looks as though it’s a 2020 Chevy Camaro 2SS, which is equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine. Max output is rated at 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque, although this particular example is likely modified for a bit more.

If you don’t know what your doing stay off the roads and drive something slow. Too many times the car is blamed for the pour driver that has NO clue how to respond
Here we go again, whether it’s a cars & coffee event or a car show, even a cruise nite event, there is always, ALWAYS that one person who just has to do something stupid, and unfortunately it shows bad for all of the others who are there, and who use some decorum when leavening such events. However, this has been happening for ages, worse now because modern cars are obviously more powerful and the drivers sometimes more inclined to “jump on it” in an attempt to show off, we’ve all probably done it once or twice after leaving an event…sometimes we’re lucky and we use a judicious use of the throttle knowing that “too much of a good thing” can create a whole lot of trouble for us or someone else, so we just “cool it” and no harm, no foul. However, when there is a “lack of good judgement” and the nut behind the steering wheel does not realize that you don’t “nail it” while you wheels are turned and your cars making a right or left turn, then the end result of doing something this stupid is legendary…you’ll lose control of your vehicle! It all seems so stupid, but sometimes you just can’t help it, and you do it anyway and trust me, things can go wrong in split second and then…you become an instant celebrity, and not in way that makes you popular with the rest of your friends or peers. Best to use some good judgement when driving a high powered car…save that sort of stupidity for when you’re out in the middle of nowhere, and not when you’re on a racetrack cause it ain’t cool to do this stunt when others are near by either, it just shows your ignorance and to your inability to handle your own cars capabilities. Okay, ’nuff said…take it from an Ex-Street Racer from many years ago, I’ve been very lucky and I’d love to pass on this “Luck” to others….stay off the “loud pedal” when leaving all events, you can “rev it up and blow it out” but never, ever show everyone your stupidity, it just ain’t cool, ‘ya dig!
Oversteer and over foot. Sounds bad too imo. Have auto transmission, had resonator with pops hot startup (say refuel) or deceleration. Like outta tune. Cat back Magnaflow X pipe exhaust, 20% larger tubing. Lower smoother tone, no out of tune sounding pops, resonator gone. Not louder, more air flow higher RPM. Sounds better, as more of an exponential acceleration, rather than a flat line.
