GM pulled the covers off the fully refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD back in October, revealing a long list of updates, changes, and upgrades. At the time, GM only revealed the Denali, (new for 2024) Denali Ultimate, and AT4 trim levels – while not showing the lower-end Pro, SLE or SLT trims. Luckily, GM Authority’s eagle-eyed photographers have exclusively captured the very first photos of the refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD in the SLE trim level.
For context, the SLE is the second lowest trim level of the Sierra HD, slotting one spot above the base Pro trim. This particular unit – a 2500 HD Crew Cab with a Long Bed and 4X4 – is finished in Cardinal Red (paint code G7C).
Up front, we notice the trim-specific chrome grille along with a body-color hood scoop, along with the revised headlights. The fog lights are cleverly integrated into the vertical black trim piece within the chrome front bumper. The front quarter panel badge indicates that this example is equipped with the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine.
Moving around to the side, we see black side mirrors and body-colored door handles. The side part of the front bumper has the 2500 HD designation, new for the 2024 model year refresh, along with the large footprint that is the Crew Cab Long Box configuration, with the 4×4 badge prominently displayed on the rear of the bedside. This unit appears to be riding on the base 17-inch machined aluminum wheels (RPO code PYQ).
Out back, this SLE unit features a chrome rear bumper, and a GMC MultiPro tailgate. The GMC and Sierra badges are centered at the tailgate, while the SLE badge is located on the bottom of the passenger side.
The GMC Sierra HD lineup was originally slated to receive a mid-cycle update for the 2023 model year, but due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and global microchip shortage, the refresh was pushed back to the 2024 model year instead. In any event, the refresh brings about updates to the front fascia an overhauled cockpit, and a streamlined powertrain.
Under the hood, the refreshed Sierra HD is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Optional on most trims and standard on the Denali Ultimate is the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which is now uprated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.
Both engines pair with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission.
The 2024 GMC Sierra HD is set to arrive in the spring of the 2023 calendar year, with official pricing details expected closer to the start of production.

I don’t know why they bothered to blur the background… it’s obviously a Hampton Inn and the first one I checked was a hit.
Please tell us GM is finally going to stop wax coating the frames on the silverado and sierra and e-coat like Dodge and Ford.
Keep hearing rumors GM is going to E-coat frames. 2024 going to be the year?
Looks good but I still prefer the Silverado.
Beautiful looking Sierra! This will outsell ford and dodge in no time!
Much ado about nothing.
Totally refreshed my …
I love pickups that are long enough to be their own private island!
Blegh! The current Sierra HD has a nice, strong appearance. Mimicking the 19-21 Sierra keystone-shaped grill is rather undesirable to me.
