2024 Buick Envista Spotted Undisguised On U.S. Roads

With the upcoming departure of the Buick Encore, questions have cropped up over what would serve as Buick’s fourth crossover in the American market. In October, GM Authority exclusively reported that it was expected that the Buick Envista that would fill this role, instead of the three-row Buick Envision Plus. Now, GM Authority eagle-eyed photographers just captured an Envista undergoing testing US public roads.

What’s notable about this spotting is that the crossover coupe is almost completely undisguised, hinting that GM is close to finishing its testing. This particular example is painted in grey, and rolls on black alloy wheels. It’s also bearing a sporty appearance with its black window surrounds (instead of chrome) and black mirror caps (instead of body colored).

Another hint that this is a US-spec model is the presence of side turn signals in the front wheel arches. The Chinese-market Envista doesn’t have these turn signals.

As a reminder, the Chinese-spec Buick Envista is positioned towards the bottom of the lineup, close to that of the second-gen Buick Encore that isn’t offered in North America. There are four different trim levels available:

2023 Envista Enjoy: 152,900 yuan (about $21,450 USD at current exchange rates)
2023 Envista Smart: 159,900 yuan ($22,450 USD)
2023 Envista GS: 169,900 yuan ($23,850 USD)
2023 Envista GS+: 178,900 yuan ($25,100 USD)

The Chinese-market Envista is powered by a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine rated at 181 horsepower, mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. The North-American Envista would likely get a different powertrain.

The Envista rides on a new variant of the VSS-F platform (vehicle set), which it shares with its corporate cousin, the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax. Notably, the Trax was recently unveiled for North America, and is sold in China as the Chevy Seeker. In fact, GM Authority exclusively reported that the Seeker would make its way to North America.
