Editor’s note: well, it turns out that this is not Moonshot Green Matte. Instead, it has a military green wrap. Full story here.
The GMC Hummer EV Pickup is an incredible vehicle, offering absurd levels of performance both on and off the road. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that customer demand for the all-electric supertruck has been quite high, with much anticipation for the more affordable, lower-end models set to be released. Now, we’re getting our first look at the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup draped in the Moonshot Green Matte hue thanks to the following GM Authority photos.
This particular unit represents the first real-world sighting of the Hummer EV Pickup in Moonshot Green Matte (Color code G7W). Besides the matte paint job, this truck seems to be equipped with much of the same hardware from the range-topping Edition 1 models.
Up front, this includes the black recovery (tow) hooks, a skid plates, and fog light fitted at the corners of the Black front bumper, as well as a small GMC badge placed on the driver’s side of the front grille. The headlights consist of a coast-to-coast light bar in place reminiscent of a grille on ICE Hummers of yore.
Moving around to the side, the similarities to the Edition 1 continue, with body colored side mirror caps along with the door handles, Black wheels and Black side steps. We also quite appreciate the rather sinister look as a result of the dark green body, black wheels, and black accents.
Out back, the GMC MultiPro Tailgate is prominently featured with the HUMMER badge, along with a Black bumper and Black recovery hooks. No CornerStep bumpers here, folks.
While the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 is currently the only GMC Hummer EV model roaming public streets for the time being, “regular” models of the Hummer EV – such as the EV3X, EV2X, and EV2 – will be offered with eight different exterior colors, each with a space-themed name (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Afterburner Tintcoat (GC5)
- Deep Aurora Metallic (GXN)
- Interstellar White (GAZ)
- Meteorite Metallic (GNO)
- Moonshot Green Matte (G7W)
- Supernova Metallic (GKK)
- Tide Metallic (G7X)
- Void Black (GBA)
It’s worth noting that the Hummer EV Pickup’s variant, the GMC Hummer EV SUV, debuted with the Moonshot Green Matte color, and the SUV in Edition 1 trimmings will be exclusively offered with this color option.
As a reminder, GMC Hummer EV Pickup production began late last year at the GM Factory Zero plant (formerly the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) in Michigan. Output is derived from GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, where the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 model produces 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 (!) pound-feet of torque.
As for structure, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, as well as the GMC Hummer EV SUV, ride on GM’s dedicated “Ulti-body” electric BT1 platform. The same architecture, albeit in a different version, also underpins the upcoming Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV pickup trucks.

Well, it’s good to see one that isn’t white for a change.
GM is really behind. In NOVA I have yet to see a single Hummer EV. Plenty of Rivian R1Ts and a Ford Lightning tho.
You mean Novi?
Also I say you haven’t been looking.
I see a lot of Hummers all over the area.
Where? In CA? Never seen one in my world.
They are out there, I caught 1 on the street this past October down here in Atlanta.
Nova????
Northern Virginia. I tend to say The DMV to include the entire beltway.
The color Nova in my opinion has to be a very Bright white with perhaps some bluish tones mixed in, I would have to look that up and see if there is a photo that displays such a color, in general I could be wrong based what gm considers on what that color is.
I’m glad that they’ll actually be using some other colors finally! I can’t wait to see more colors, but at this point I still like the white.
I like the color but a really dumb name for it.
Nice color but not in dull matte!
It is a good looking color, but I am not sure if I like how the lights contrast with it in the front. Looks good how the lights blend in with the white.
I like the hue, just wish it was a gloss metallic.
