The Canadian market will soon be getting the 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup in the highly revered Edition 1 trim level, GM Authority has just learned.
The 2022 model-year Hummer EV Pickup isn’t sold in Canada, and following the model’s introduction, GM Canada said the Edition 1 was under consideration in the country, as it initially made the supertruck available in EV2, EV2X and EV3X trim levels. However, the eventual 2023 model-year EV3X variant would be equipped as standard with the Edition 1’s 1,000-horsepower Ultium Drive three-motor powertrain.
However, GM has now announced that it will begin offering the fully fledged Edition 1 package to Canadian buyers, which is set to arrive in early 2023. Both the EV3X and Edition 1 have been confirmed for Canada so far, set to use the same powertrain.
In the U.S., the Hummer EV3X gets the three-motor powertrain producing 800 horsepower and 9,500 pound-feet of wheel torque, with the 1,000-horsepower setup as an option.
As a reminder, 2022 GMC Hummer EV production began late last year at the GM Factory Zero plant (née GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) in Michigan. Output is sourced from GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium drive motors.
Under the skin, the GMC Hummer EV rides on the GM BT1 platform, which it shares with the upcoming Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV.
GM has so far received roughly 90,000 reservations for the Hummer EV across both the Pickup and SUV models. The automaker is no longer taking orders for the time being, as the nameplate is sold out for at least two years. Pricing for the U.S.-market Edition 1 started at $110,295, but the model line received a $6,250 increase this past summer.
