2023 Chevy Silverado Gets Limited Wireless Phone Charging Availability

The 2023 Chevy Silverado introduced a few minor updates and changes over the fully-refreshed 2022 Silverado. Unfortunately, GM has been working through some Silverado parts constraints, and now, GM Authority has learned that some Silverado 1500 units will have to make-do without wireless charging.

Starting with October 26th production, some 2023 Silverados are being built without the wireless smartphone charging feature (RPO Code K4C). Affected vehicles are identified with the RPO Code 00C (zero zero C) on the window sticker. There is no retrofit of the feature available or planned at this time.

It’s worth noting that during regular production, wireless charging is optional on LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims, while standard on ZR2, LTZ and High Country trim levels. The K4C option is not available on WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss trims.

For reference, this isn’t the only parts constraint the 2023 Chevy Silverado has struggled with this year. In September, some Silverados were built with non-functioning power outlets, with the physical outlets still installed on the truck but don’t provide any power. Additionally, Super Cruise was unavailable for a while on the Silverado due to the ongoing microchip shortage; thankfully, this constraint has since been resolved as of last October.

It’s not just parts that have been under constraint for the Silverado, as trims like the Silverado ZR2 and Custom Trail Boss have also faced production issues.

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is offered with four of powerplant options. These include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine. As GM Authority covered previously, the 3.0L I6 LZ0 diesel engine replaces the 3.0L I6 LM2 diesel engine offered previously.

Under the skin, Chevy’s full-size pickup rides on the GM T1 platform, which is shared with the 2023 GMC Sierra.

Production of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 kicked off on August 29th, taking place at GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada. Silverado production at the GM Silao plant in Mexico was delayed by one week.

  1. Not surprised at any part shortages or unavailable options on any GM vehicles as I’m still waiting on three CHIPS for a 2022 GMC SIERRA SLT LIMITED manufactured date 1/2022 . Very disappointing.
